[edit]According to Vladimir Orel from *skurti. Cognate to Old Norse skyrta, Middle Low German schorte (“shirt”). From the same source like Albanian shkurt (“short”) and shkurte (“shirt”); which was probably borrowed from a Germanic language, although unlikely.[1]
