Shade Slash is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series, introduced in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker.

It imbues a melee strike with the power of darkness.

Shade Slash costs 2 MP to use and strikes a single enemy with an attack using 110% of the user's normal attack based on the target's Zam resistance. It can be learned from:

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2[edit]

Shade Slash can no longer be learned from Cursader, Dark Knight, or Muspell, and the point requirement for Darklight Slashes has changed. Starting with this game, the damage is also calculated based on the target's Donk resistance, as well. It can now be learned from:

Dragon Quest Tact[edit]

Shade Slash can be learned by Corpse corporal at level 16, Mummy boy at level 18, Knight Aberrant and Troll at level 22, Great troll at level 31, Ghoul at level 32, and Dark skeleton and Dragon zombie at level 42. It costs 17 MP to use and deals 180% Zam-type physical damage to one enemy. It can also be taught to any unit by using an ability scroll. The skill was originally named Dark Spike at the game's start, but was changed to Shade Slash during the Version 2.0 update.
