GPU-based out-of-core MDL clustering algorithm

Abstract

The time complexity of Minimum Description Length based greedy agglomerative clustering algorithm is poor for a large data set. In this paper, we propose three different versions of GPU-based parallel algorithms, namely, time-efficient, memory-efficient and out-of-core algorithms to improve the running time of algorithm. We conduct extensive set of experiments which prove that the parallel out-of-core version that we propose in this paper, is the most useful version for practical purposes.
