Competitiveness of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry based on quantitative research

Published: 03 August 2024 Publication History

Abstract

Promoting the development of the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and enhancing China's overall competitive strength in this field are crucial objectives. We constructed an evaluation index system for the competitiveness of China's pharmaceutical manufacturing industry through four key dimensions, namely, industrial input, industrial output, technological innovation capacity, and industrial support. By applying the entropy value method and combining the four main primary indicators and fifteen secondary indicators, we conducted an in-depth analysis of the competitiveness level of China's pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, except for Xinjiang, Tibet, and Qinghai, during the period from 2018 to 2021. The findings clearly show that the development of China's pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in different regions is extremely uneven, and there is a significant gap between the comprehensive competitiveness. In order to reverse this situation, we need to promote the development of China's pharmaceutical manufacturing industry to high-end upgrading and establish a corresponding support system. At the same time, making full use of Internet resources to promote industrial upgrading is also a key strategy. In addition, pharmaceutical companies need to improve the flexibility of their digitalization strategy to enhance their dominant position in industrial competition.
