GVT: 3D Teleportation Methods Using Gesture Velocity in Virtual Environment

Published: 03 June 2024 Publication History

Abstract

Teleportation is a commonly used method in Virtual Reality environments, and specifying a teleportation destination in a 3D space poses a challenge. In this paper, we propose a new method called Gesture Velocity & Teleport (GVT) for teleportation in 3D space, which utilizes the controller’s velocity during a gesture to specify the teleportation target. To assess the effectiveness of GVT, we conduct a controlled lab experiment (N = 24) comparing it with an existing teleportation method.
