Financial Literacy in Student Financial Management Behavior in the Digital Age

Published: 25 April 2021 Publication History

Abstract

This study describes the condition of financial literacy at a young age which is described by the daily financial management behavior of students. This research is survey research. The informants in this study were students of Sebelas Maret University Accounting Education who had taken courses on finance. The data were collected using a questionnaire, observation, and interviews. Descriptive qualitative data analysis. The results of observations on students of Sebelas Maret University Accounting Education in 2019 showed that many students often behaved consumptively due to the ease of access to financial technology. This study explains the behavior of student financial management concerning financial literacy in today's digital era. Based on this research, it can be seen that the level of financial literacy of students of Sebelas Maret University Accounting Education is still low as indicated by a lack of understanding of financial management. Financial education from an early age becomes an urgency in familiarizing this financial management behavior. The implication is that improving financial literacy among students requires synergy from various parties to make it happen.
