Higher Education Students’ Perception and Behavior During Pandemic Reality: A Pilot Study

Published: 22 January 2021 Publication History

Abstract

Following the actual pandemic situation, it was sought to reach an investigation that will evidence the change of students’ behaviors in their academic life, considering their habits, daily lives and gender. Thus, it was decided to develop a short questionnaire consisting of five different topics to identify higher education students' perceptions and behaviour towards the quarantine period. The present study presents the preliminary results gathered through an online questionnaire. Students’ behaviors and perceptions regarding video conference classes, complementary activities, leisure time, psychological state and domestic tasks were analyzed in detail by gender. Some significant differences were found between female and male students. This study on students' behaviors and perceptions concerning the pandemic situation may serve as a guideline for the “new normal” ambient we are experiencing.
