Edge detection by combined canny filter with scale multiplication & ant colony optimization

Published: 26 October 2012 Publication History

Abstract

Edge detection is the initial step for obtaining information from an image. A new edge detection operator is proposed, which is a hybrid one. In this paper, canny filter with scale multiplication and ant colony optimization techniques are identified and implemented for better performance. The output of initial stage edge detection methods analyzed with basic canny edge detection and performance improvement is identified on different application scenario. The result of first stage on different application is given input for the ant colony optimization. Canny edge detectors based on scale multiplication combined with ant colony optimization method result are analyzed. The evaluation is done using different quantitative performance measure.
