Extracting information in reliable way from the distributed data sources in open networks

Published: 23 January 2009 Publication History

Abstract

Multidatabase systems are widely used for distributed, heterogeneous, and autonomous data source integration. To support mobile data access, existing multidatabases must address the obstacles in mobile computing such as low bandwidth, intermittent network connections, and resource constraints of mobile devices. The execution autonomy of mobile agents alleviates these problems and provides opportunity for conserving energy. In this article we have presented design and implementation of a "Multiagent System for Information Access in Distributed Databases (MSIADD)". This system improves the performance bottleneck of distributed database system by decentralizing and replicating the database over the network. Indian Railway Distributed Database System is taken for testing the MSIADD. The experimental results have shown that due to network congestion, i.e., limitation of mobile agent environment, efficiency of system is affected.
