Technical analysis of the boiler's work process

Published: 23 February 2011 Publication History

Abstract

This paper analyzes the technical parameters of the boiler used for the production of polystyrene. The boiler has previously been built for burning solid fuel, coal, with low heat caloric value (LHV) Hu = 8000kJ/Kg. After the reconstruction, the boiler was adapted to burn liquid fuel, oil respectively. This polystyrene production device uses oil as fuel which has low heat caloric value Hu = 42,000 kJ / kg. The average working temperature when using oil is tm = 15°C. In addition, measurements are made in order to determine the amount of oil spent for realizing the production of saturated vapor with pressure p=8bar and temperature t = 125°C.
