The Impact of Manufacturing Services on the Upgrading of Fujian Industrial Clusters under the Background of Digital Economy

Published: 26 August 2024 Publication History

Abstract

In order to understand the impact of manufacturing service orientation on the upgrading of Fujian industrial clusters, a study on the impact of manufacturing service orientation on the upgrading of Fujian industrial clusters under the background of digital economy is proposed. This paper first analyzes the agglomeration of productive service industries, which guides the competition and reconstruction of cluster value networks, in order to reduce trade costs and improve the level of specialization as a link to promote the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry. Secondly, the spatial panel model test and regional comparison of urban data in China show that the agglomeration of commercial circulation industry in the western region has significantly promoted the transformation and upgrading of local manufacturing industry, while the agglomeration of knowledge intensive service industry has not yet had a significant driving effect on the transformation and upgrading of local manufacturing industry, and the impact of both is weaker than that of the eastern region. Meanwhile, the two typical types of service industry clusters in the western region lack spatial spillover effects on the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industries in surrounding cities, while the knowledge intensive service industry clusters in the eastern region have significant spatial spillover effects. In this regard, the western region should optimize the direction of agglomeration of productive service industries, strengthen the coordinated development of secondary and tertiary industries between cities, create a good location environment for the agglomeration of advanced service factors, and thereby enhance the beneficial role of agglomeration of productive service industries in the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry.
