Design of an Intelligent Infusion Monitoring System

Published: 01 February 2021 Publication History

Abstract

Intravenous infusion is a common medical method. However, its deficiencies are gradually discovered during the process of clinical applications, although it is convenient and high-effective so far. For example, if the infusion rate is too fast or too slow, it probably leads blood backstreaming. In addition, medical staff are often understaffed, making it difficult to serve all patients quickly and effectively. In the view of this situation, this article designs an intelligent infusion monitoring system with HT66F489 as the main control chip. The liquid level and drip speed of the infusion bottle are monitored by infrared transmitters as well as receiving sensors, and if abnormal conditions occur, the audible and visual alarm signal will be triggered. Our product has a monitoring application based on Android application, which monitors the situation of infusion of patients and returns the alarming signal to client-side simultaneously. Medical personnel thus can be informed the abnormal situation timely. This design efficiently strengthens the comprehensive management of the ward, reduces the burden of medical staff, bypasses medical accidents, which means it has an extensive application prospect in the medical field.
