A framework for enterprise agility

Abstract

One major challenge faced by modern day enterprises is the ability to respond to changes, timely and effectively, otherwise called enterprise agility [5, 7]. Enterprises depend on, interact with, and transact in an increasingly dynamic business environment. Therefore, they can be characterised by spontaneous changes and uncertainties, which usually have negative consequences and can result to unfavourable conditions such as financial loss, bankruptcy, and loss of competitive advantage, to the host enterprise [1, 4]. These changes are often caused by change drivers or drivers of change, broadly defined as circumstances, and events that can lead to changes in an enterprise [6, 12, 13]. Examples of popular change drivers include government regulations, competition, varying customer demands, and technology development.
