A collaborative web-based help-system

Published: 13 June 2012 Publication History

Abstract

In this paper we present a novel help system that integrates material provided by various contributors into a single point of reference for user assistance. Therefore different kinds of resources are organized by means of collaborative tagging. To retrieve the content natural language is used to communicate with an avatar on a web page. The advantage of our approach has been verified by user testing. First-time users assisted by our system were able to perform a given task more efficiently than those performing the same task employing a system based on traditional help texts.
