HygeiaTel: an intelligent telemedicine system with cognitive support

Published: 01 November 2011 Publication History

Abstract

The increasing health care cost and the scarcity of healthcare workers warrant development of a new complementary healthcare system. The web that has brought scalability and cost reduction in other fields can do the same in healthcare. A web based telemedicine system with device integration for vitals measurement and with context and cognitive support can provide an immersive experience of a virtual health clinic. We have built such a system and the system will be demonstrated at the conference. Deployment of this system can provide, anywhere, anytime healthcare that can complement the existing healthcare system.
