Abstract

The CASCON High School Programming Competition was a Java-based challenge that encouraged high school students to discover the fun in computer science and information technology. In its sixth year, the CASCON High School Programming Competition, CodeSpy, attracted many schools from across the Greater Toronto region. In addition to the competition, two hands-on workshops were held concurrently for high school computer science educators by Troy Vasiga, of the University of Waterloo and Steve Engels, of the University of Toronto. Attendees developed and implemented interesting exercises to take with them back to the classroom.
