<I grab a seat>

<Got out of class>
<Dropped out of the course>25 -
I just wrote more than 140 char in a tweet, inspect the element and turn Enable = True on Tweet button.
The response was epic.6 -
What the fuck student. Why in fuck would you submit a python assignment in word. So that all the formatting you know the stuff that tells python how to run the code all fucks up. How the fuck can I mark this.28

Boss - gives tasks to me. Timeline: 10 days.
Me - work hard and finish the solution in 3 days.
Boss- wtf is this. Do it properly.
Me - chills for 15 days. Submit the same earlier solution after that.
Boss - yes this looks nice now! Much better than your earlier work!
Me - dude seriously what kind of stuff do you smoke before coming to work?8 -
A client refused to pay for a hybrid mobile app because he said that he only needed the android version.
After publishing the app he asked if we could submit it on the Apple store because he now wanted the iOS version as well.11 -
Breaking devRant news: we are extremely excited to announce the featured guest for the first episode of our podcast. He co-authored possibly the most famous software development book of all-time - "The Pragmatic Programmer" and is well-known for many other titles including "Practices of an Agile Developer." For the devRant community, one of his coolest/fun claims-to-fame might be that he is the inventor of rubber duck debugging, a frequent topic of discusson here on devRant. Beyond this, he is also one of the founders of the agile development movement. Our first featured guest is Andy Hunt (http://www.toolshed.com/about.html)!
As you can probably imagine, we're very excited to have Andy on the first episode of the devRant podcast and there's so many things we want to ask him. We want to give the devRant community a chance to submit questions too because we know devRanters will come up with fun questions. So feel free to just submit any questions you'd like us to ask on your behalf as comments on this rant, and we'll pick the best ones. Thanks!25 -
In a form's text area, pressing return should always start a new line. It should never submit the form.8

What the fuck is this one-way interview bullshit?
"The organization you are interviewing with has come up with a series of interview questions that they have requested you to respond to. This is an on-demand interview which means that you'll be recording your video interview answers at your convenience as long as you submit them before the deadline." -- sparkhire.com
Like seriously?
What if I have questions? I have plenty, and I find those questions considerably more important than whatever bullshit gotchas the company wants to annoy me with.
One-way interview.
Fucking really.
At least have the decency to talk to me.rant bullshit root gets angry one-way interview interviewing talk about lazy and unprofessional root swears oh my this just screams 'bad environment'36 -
Second semester
Java - OOP Course
We had to write a game, an arkanoid clone
Neat shit
And a fun course, mad respect to the Prof.
BUT
Most students, including me had this ONE bug where the ball would randomly go out of the wall boundaries for no clear reason.
A month passed, sleepless nights, no traces.
Two months later. Same shit. Grades going down (HW grades) because it became more and more common, yet impossible to track down.
3 months later, we had to submit the HW for the last time which included features like custom level sets, custom blocks and custom layouts.
So before we submit the game for review, they had pre-defined level sets that we had to include for testing sake.
I loaded that.
The bug is back.
But
REPRODUCIBLE.
OMG.
So I started setting up breakpoints.
And guess what the issue was.
FLOATING FUCKING POINT NUMBERS
(Basically the calculations were not as expected)
Changing to Ints did it's job and the bug was officially terminated.
Most satisfying night yet.
Always check your float number calculations as it's never always what you expect.
Lesson learned, use Ints whenever possible.18 -
When I was studying OOP our teacher instructed us to submit a project at the end of semester. Me and my friend worked hard and enthusiastically and finished our first game in C++ (Ping Pong). We were very excited because we had put so much effort into it that we were 100% sure that our project will be the best among all. At the end of semester, turned out our teacher does not have much time to evaluate our projects, so instead he announced a motherfucking MCQ's quiz. Everyone got really really happy but I was thinking of multiple ways I could kill that bastard.2

My favorite part about programming is when I spend 30 minutes debugging my code only to realize I spelled "submit" as "sumbit"...6

All right, yesterday I let you submit images for me to use as my lock screen. Congratulations to Root, who had the most upvoted image!
Wonderful submission.20 -
Couple years ago, in an Indian web dev company I worked at, the management decided it would be a good idea to ask all employees to "justify their salary" and submit their answers via email.
(You read that right)
70% workforce submitted their resignation the same day, resulting in the HR (who came up with this idea) getting fired on the spot.
Good times.8 -
So i am about to submit my weekly report before going home and this happens. 😢
Windows why you do this 😱5 -
So lately I’ve been sending an http request with ajax instead of using classic form submit. Pdf and images need to be converted into byte64 string then send it to the backend, problem is if the size gets too big chrome crashes and showed me ‘Aw snap’, but it works on firefox. Thr file is size could be 3 to 100 mb (for pdf). So my question; is this my problem or just browser limitation?16

That moment you write your full rant, want to submit it, but in that very same moment the app crashes.
Now my rant is gone, but I'm not angry enough anymore.
I still wanna rant😑5 -
https://halite.io is a really cool game (no affiliation)
It's a game where you submit a bot which then competes against bots from other humans (currently 1100).
Your objective is to micromanage a fleet of ships to optimize for production.
Plus, you can write in a wide variety of languages.
It's a nice challenge to develop strategies and maybe even learn a new language.7 -
I tell him to submit a pull request, he just merges his code. I revert it and tell him to submit a pull request, he submits one then merges it himself immediately after...6
-
Sometimes the design decisions of big companies amazes me.
I wanted to contact support of Cloudflare. The only way to submit a new support query is by logging into the account first.
My problem is that I can not log into my account. What a bunch of retards.4 -
Everyone has something to learn and teach. Start up a blog, submit to conference proposals, etc. If you're learning it then someone else has to learn it in the future, so make it easier for them.1

I had a mate in college in my programming class who always worked in Microsoft Excel. Even when we're writing code in class, dude will be in Excel. Everyone who partnered with him including me in programming projects complained that he's always in Excel instead of coding. But somehow, dude always had the work done whenever the Prof asked to submit them.8

Git, Bitcoin, actually getting paid for writing PySnek.. What the fuck is this doing in my feed?
1. How the fuck are Git and Bitcoin related?
2. What the fuck makes you think that open source and getting paid don't usually go together, as if that makes your product unique?
3. What kind of drugs did this marketing cunt take to make this promotion, because I want some!
4. What kind of braindead idiot am I for not including the fucking picture before hitting submit?!13 -
Nice learning experience from Spotify. If a survey response might contain negative feedback, just don't allow it to submit.
Clever Spotify ;)2 -
Fucking retards. They make us submit 3 fully fledged fucking Android apps (with ALL the generated boilerplate crap), all zipped into one fucking folder which cannot exceed 10MB.
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME, YOU DUNG-EATING PREHISTORIC APE ?! ONE PROJECT ALONE IS 60 MB, HOW IN THE MOTHER-FLIPPING HELL DO YOU EXPECT ME TO FIT 3 OF THOSE INTO 10 MEASLY MEGABYTES?!
Ever heard of git you moth-eating-cactus-fucking pricks?! Time has come to learn it !!! Private repos are a thing, you cocksuckers.
May your bed be infested with bugs and your code riddled with Greek semi-colons. Fucking dimwits.7 -
The best feature in Intellij is the export to Eclipse. I fucking hate Eclipse but we have to submit our assignments as eclipse projects. Eclipse is the worst software i have ever seen. It even crashed in the same Moment as a classmate asked why i hated Eclipse.2

1. Participate in an online hackathon
2. Upload demo video to youtube
3. Submit in the last minute
4. Come back 1 hour later to see video removed due to length violation.

Why would you submit a pull request with the addition of such a comment and expect me to approve? What the hell is wrong with you?

Anytime I have to deploy to iOS store. Part of the stack includes human review... Need I say more?
If I had a dollar for every fucking time they ignored our flagging to not put it on iPad, and returned with their review 2-3 days later saying:
"App UI did not run on iPad resolution cleanly."
Then having to submit an appeal and wait 2-3 more days...10 -
My roommate's CS Prof literally makes them print their code on PAPER (max 80 chars to a line) and submit it to his physical dropbox across campus. This includes end of term projects where a single submission might have literally 20 pages of code.
I don't know what to say.13 -
I just got memo/warning for swearing too much.
Should i submit my resignation now?
Just to be clear, im not swearing AT someone. You guys know how it is when we're in the zone. Headphones on, focus intensifies, errors encountered, a lot of shits and fucks are uttered, most of the time shouted.4 -
Manager: Dev, you will submit to my leadership and surrender all common sense to agree with what I say or face consequences.
Dev: Manager, Fuck you!2 -
At work:
Why is there no refresh when we submit data into the tables?
Me: there is, but there is no page refresh, as it should be.
Them: but how do we know if the data is being added?
Me: well you can see it in the table right? Look there is even a small message over here **points at message** that indicates the entry code and position.
Them: yeah but how can we tell? Can you make it to where there is a page refresh?
Me:12 -
The company I work for is requiring customers to submit credit card info in an online form which then gets stored into our "secure database". Which employees then pull and charge the card later on. They're also telling customers that the form is "encrypted". This is all because they're too fucking lazy and not patient enough to wait for someone to integrate a payment gateway. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen.5

Shitty-Clent-side: Onclick of submit button, send request to server

Shitty-Client-Side: change "Submit" to "Submitted" and backgroumd color to green(because UX is important and error handling can go to hell)1 -
Wtf is going on with developers these days?
I just applied for a job (through some online job thing) for the holidays and they had questions like "Do you have relatives working for our company?" and I'm like noooo. So when I wanted to submit the form the field of my relatives name working for the company was marked with a notice "pls fill me in". And that was not the only field behaving like that. There were like 10 of them.
So now I wanted to install mono develop to learn some c# and gui development and they give me this9 -
For fucks sake, how many times can you get the same error before giving up?
So, there's this form, and it's used quite frequently without fail, and there's this 1 user receiving an error that some data is incorrect, so... they submit the form again, and again, and again, and 6 more times with the same bloody error all because changing 1 fucking field is obviously to hard to recognise as the problem when the error says "you can not have 'x' in field 'y'"
Fuck it, do I need to replace 'x' with a blank, just because you can't read a fucking error message?13 -
Minutes away from Ludum Dare submission closing. Finalizing game build to upload and submit and I get this...!!!
FUCK!
I'm too exhausted to give a shit at this point. Guess I'm out. Still pretty happy with what I managed to make. Had a late start, first LD and I actually managed to make something I guess XD
I'm going to bed T_T6 -
I'm finally realising my long time dream and making a programming language. It's a functional language resemblent in both appearance and usage to lambda calculus. I'll mostly be making plans down to the finest details until the end of summer, at which point if I can gauge the challenge I can hopefully submit this as a graduate project.
This is the first in a series of articles documenting my progress:
https://lbfalvy.github.io/blog/... -
In today’s episode of hybrid/cross platform tools are shit:
Electron 6 and 7 use private API’s on Mac OS, violating apple App Store rules, and apps now can’t be submitted.
The responses also say that continued attempts to try to hide private api usage may result in developer accounts being terminated.
So by using electron, you may get your Apple developer account closed down permanently .... rightly so for picking electron in my mind
Source:
https://david.dev/you-cannot-submit...12 -
I am laughing and crying at the same time.
I did a high value transaction with Google Pay, and now I cannot see the transaction details in history for this specific transaction (The money was transferred correctly though). When I open the history entry, it says "Something went wrong, please try again".
So after waiting for a week, I went to report a bug with Google from within the app. And when I press submit, I get an error.
Wanna guess what's the error?
ITS FUCKING "SOMETHING WENT WRONG, PLEASE TRY AGAIN"!4 -
defuq Apple??
I cannot submit my app and I have a very critical app.
this is shit, here we don't celebrate Christmas, so maybe apple needs to fuckin consider that !!17 -
Recently applied at a local company. Webform, "enter some details and we'll get back to you"-like.
Entered my details, hit submit, lo and behold "Error 503 - something went wrong on our end".
I was just baffled. It's a well-established IT company and they can't even get their application form to work?
So I'm sitting there in the debugger console, monitoring network stuff to see if anything is weird. I obviously hit submit some several more times during that.
Eventually I give up.
In the night my phone wakes me up with a shitton of "we've received your application and will review it..." emails.
Yeah they didn't get back to me.2 -
Being railroaded by a colleague and accused of project sabotage, then having to submit to a 2 hour interrogation where I was literally sat in a corner and read a riot act. I had done nothing of which I was being accused. I sic'ed HR on them in a followup meeting but all HR did was sit and listen and then find in their favor despite the written evidence because my manager outranked the HR manager. That was when I learned that employees are always wrong when the manager wants them to be. I freelance now. No manager, and I can fire my clients.
-
"An error has occurred. Please try again."
WELL WHAT THE FUCK IS THE ERROR? WHY CANT YOU TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO DO TO FIX THE ERROR YOU PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT.
I shouldn't need to submit a form 23 fucking times, changing field values each time, because of an uninformative fucking error message.3 -
For God fucking sake! The absolute worst platforms are TV's.. LG - WebOS has barely any documentation and a framework that runs very poorly. Not to talk about the 200 bulletpoint self checklist you have to go through before you can submit a new release!
Samsung - Tiden TV... Told me to contact a content manager, and I've almost been waiting 3 months now for any answer, haven't heard a word. My boss thinks I should write another email and cc him so Samsung will get scared... Jesus fucking Christ this sector is a bunch of arrogant lazy fucks1 -
User: "Why isn't this process updated? There's something wrong with your system."
Me: "Did you submit the request?"
User: "Uh yeah I'm sure I did..."
Me: "Go submit the request again." (they never did the first time)
User: "I don't know how. Will you show me?" *shows user how to do it* "Ok I did it now."
Me: "You did it wrong, you need to resubmit it."
User: "Ok I resubmitted it."
* a week later *
User: "The process still hasn't shown any progress."
Me: "You didn't resubmit it like you said you did."
User: "Will you show me how to do it again?"
* fuck me *
Me: "Sure..."
Process works as expected and everyone lives happily ever after, except the developer that knows it is just a matter of time till the next user blatantly lies, has no respect for anyone's time, and demonstrates a complete lack of desire to care about their job at all and just wants to bitch and complain like a typical lazy ass-hat.6 -
I had to make an account for my kid's school.
Last night I start. I put in a username, then it has a quality meter for the password. I put one in and it goes to like 90%. Ok, fine. I submit and...
Validation error on the username field. Message? [object Object].
Try all different kinds of username: no numbers, all caps, etc. But no luck so I give up.
Today I try again and get stuck again. Then I think... "Maybe the devs suck worse than I think..."
I change the password so that it's rated 100% and submit... Success.
Fucking devs.3 -
Overworked team spends 2 months hacking together a Codecademy clone in record time: avoiding best practices, conflating paradigms, throwing shit at the wall until it stuck.
But today I submit a small UI fix that used a table instead of `display: table`...1 -
Online applications are so much worse than the classic snail mail ones, because some companies just don't seem to give a single fuck about the quality of their application application (hehe).
This results in such joyous things like:
• "Allowed file types: doc, docx, pdf, jpg, zip"
• "Max filesize 3mb"
• "One of your files does not meet the requirements" (doesn't tell you which)
• "Upload timed out, please try again"
• 403 forbidden
• "Your account does not have the necessary permissions to upload more than 4 files at once"
• clicking the submit button leads to a 404
• "Please explain why you want to work for us." 500 character limit
• Google forms2 -
31 hours
I was on a hackathon, we got time between Saturday 10AM until Sunday 5PM.
Most people went to sleep at some point, i literally used all the time i got and could submit a finished and playable game.
I felt drunk and incredibly dizzy at the end3 -
Just started work at this new company as a backend developer and immediately got into a heated argument with one of the front end guys.
Poor guy has been a front end developer for 5 years and doesn't know how to submit a form input as an array.

Day 2 in ComSci class (following my last rant)
"Okay, so! All of the schoolwork and homework will be done on paper and pen, submit and I will grade it. Only once, no second chance"
Okay. Okay. This went over my head. What are you gonna do? OCR the code into the compiler, compile it and run to see if we fucked up to give us an F? What are you, god? Here's a brilliant idea, teach them Assembly! Guaranteed error to give us Fs! FUCK YOU3 -
I'm pretty fucking sure that if I were to quit my job, I'd have to gather the fucking requirements, create the fucking user stories, and then JIRA the ever-living fuck out of it before I could submit my fucking resignation.
I just want to write fucking code.3 -
This will be 4chan-r/greentext-ish in format. Also "me" is not me, PTH, it's referring to a game studio.

>Create an internal service for voting

What is wrong with Java CLI applications? Is it really necessary to output a billion lines consisting of INFO an WARN messages?
If I work some longer with beeline I turn into a Java application myself.
INFO: Writing rant
INFO: Clicking submit
WARN: Heart rate too high
ERR!: SHUT THE FUCK UP JAVA!10 -
True story, honest to god.
Developed a state or the art SOA web app. Front end communicates with backend through API.
Client meeting, this guy looks me right in the eyes and blurts out : « why does the submit button get disabled after first click ? Clicking it a few times gets my request high priority »
I folded back my laptop and left the meeting without saying a word. Pretty sure I’m getting fired tomorrow.5 -
What a developer on earth using AngularJS for form manipulation but using jQuery $.ajax to submit a form?2
-
When I had to submit an enhancement to the customer and so I pulled an all nighter in my office. I knew before hand that the office would be empty post 11 pm, so I sneaked in 4 cans of beer and coded the night away while downing chilled beer.
That was a good night. :) -
So, I got a ticket to make a page using a given wireframe that had submit buttons and other buttons to add more items in the wireframe.
So, I pull the html, hook up the abilty to submit the form and add items, and send it out for review.
One comment on the review.
"Remove the functionality, you'll handle it in the next ticket"
So I commented out the javascript. Guess what I'm doing on the next 10 minutes.1 -
That moment you've been dreading for a week, when you've exhausted every single resource you can in finding a solution and you've put it off way longer than you ever should have.
When you might have to ask on ...StackOverflow...
So you spend an hour agonizing over your post. You double check your google searches in case there is some info out there that you may have missed. You include code samples. You check your spelling and grammar and you any 'fluff' from your post.
Finally you hit submit and watch as nobody responds, but the downvotes just keep piling up... and damnit you have no idea why.5 -

made a Facebook app once that allowed users to submit their stories for a competition to win a tablet. The HTML form had no limit on length but ORM defaulted to 1000 characters in database, imagine the sourprise when we exported the data for the client at the end...1

Went to college feeling like I didn't know enough to keep up with the game development course, ended up knowing so much that I tested out of my entire first year and ended up teaching my professors what to do. I got special permission to ditch classes and on several occasions taught the class stoned off my ass. I didn't need to submit homework or take tests. I had my own game studio founded so I was allowed to show off my work as my final project. College was a great time for me lol

Email (not a ticket) comes in this morning: "You need to make X change to y thing, yesterday!!" with of course the obligatory million + 1 Cc's including unrelated directors across multiple sites.
Me as my helpful self: I expected this request, I'll get it sorted asap
Director 1: *calls*
Me: I'm working on it
Manager: *calls*
Me: I'm working on it
Submitter: *calls*
Me: ignore
Director 2: *calls*
Me: I'm working on it
..............
As a bonus rant, after implementing the change, manager calls and criticises my technical explanation to the submitter who I know is fully capable of understanding the way it was explained 😂

If I were the world dictator I would forbid JavaScript in web pages for a month, to teach shitty web developers a lesson.
Is it normal that to submit a form I have to use the developer console!? For fuck sake, I don't give a shit about your fancy scripts that only god knows what they're supposed to do. A simple <form> with an <input type="submit"> would do the job, holy fuck!
I'm so tired of those fucking broken scripts. Don't write JavaScript if you suck at it!3 -
My college wants me to submit my final project.... On a compact disk!
Yes, I'm sitting here facepalming myself to a pulp.
Like what the actual fuck, those things died six years ago! The last time I burned a cd was probably when I was in 9th grade and had a potato for a computer.8 -
I want a font-awesome icon for devRant. Would be nice for mine and others' sites. Any designers around to submit as a suggestion for next version (or for other icon libraries)?5

Condition : Deadlines in 7 Hours. Submit on Class
MyClassmate : "Have you done the last Assignment?"
Me : "Technically Speaking, yes, i've done that in Python, since we need to use C, i need to Translate it first"
MC : "Can you teach me?"
Me : "I wouldn't say i won't, but it's 1 AM, time is short, need to sleep, I can give you the python code tho"
MC : "wait, so you will submit the python code without Translating it first?"
Me : "Of course not, i can translate it less than 30 minutes, i'll finish and submit it before class"
MC : "can you translate it now, so you can email that to me at <his email address>, so i can sleep now and we can submit it together this morning"
Me : "i can't tell you are serious or not, anyway, see you in class"

One of my professors made us submit Hand Written codes. I mean writing, compiling, executing on the machine, and then writing by hand on paper to submit.
It was so irritating.2 -
Didn't realize buttons will submit the first form on a page, coded without this assumption, went into production without anyone noticing. Cost the client about 8 grand in work that had to be redone.1

The WiFi at my office requires username and password to sign-in and logs out after every few hours. Then I have to tap on "sign in" and submit the username and password again.
Is there any fucking way I could automate this.......?12 -
Had to fix a bug in flask App built by 3 ppl !
So I some how roughly figured out the code and was trying to fix.
The bug was
I click on submit, two times the record was entered into database.
(Second time, duplicate error).
So to figure out ,I just commented the code which inserts to DB!
Whola!
Now only one record is inserted!
I still don't know where it's actually inserting !, And IDC , problem fixed
Shall I boast about my skills!?😂3 -
I'm really loving Facebook's new design standards they fit so well their latest marketing and rebranding pipe dream to be viewed as a company that respects privacy.
They don't have to protect your info if you can't submit it 😂 -
Look honey, I wrote this little function that calls an api and submits 80% of the data to my submit form based on the input you give it, ain't that cool?

Me: Yeah, yeah it is..1 -
Does anyone notice that when you go to a 404 page on Google that the title has a "1" at the end, like someone was trying to put three !s but let go of shift to early.
I was going to submit a bug report, but I kind of like that 1 there, for some odd reason.
(If me posting this rant gets it fixed, I will be upset)4 -
Rant
I'm a CS student at a university in the global top 10. We currently have two courses using Java, where we have to submit our work to a judge program. One of them is running Java 7. the second one Java 6! Come on, what year is it? Just update your fucking software and the assignments, you lazy fucks!
First rant. Am I doing this right?6 -
Goes back to high school.....
Me: This laptop is having issues logging into the network. I have tried restarting as well as restarting the WiFi. You probally should submit a ticket so IT knows it is broken.
Teacher: They would not fix it anyway.
Me: *facepalm*
TL;DR: Teacher thinks that telling IT to fix a computer would result in nothing happening.1 -
This is a very mild rant about character limit saying that there are >0 characters left when writing comments, then refusing to submit.
I'm so fucking infuriated! I almost raised an eyebrow in anger! What the fuck, my life is literally ruined, this bug is making my toilet visits insignificantly worse!4 -
Freaking love it when devs from other teams work on you code base and implement components you already have ... Don't talk to each other, just submit your awsome code and leave a mess behind. But OK ... Just a simple click on Pull Request -> Denied!1
-
Fuck me.
I just finished a 5 kyu quiz on codewars, grabbed my mouse to click the "submit final" button and accidentaly hit the button on the side which jumps to the previous page. I lost everything and have to rewrite it now.
Welcome back, ctrl+a ctrl+c obsession, old friend.2 -
So I hate apple, we were updating an app from a year ago and everything went well until we tried to submit. We kept getting this error about launch screen images for iPhone 5. We tried everything stack overflow had to say but nothing worked, NOTHING.
Here is the thing, we tried to submit the exact same binary on our other Mac, and it worked. LIKE WHAT THE FUCK APPLE. -
Why don't you apple tell me all my fucking errors at once instead of waiting to submit again the next day?
It's been 3 days now 😡😡😡😡2 -
0. The conference room TV has no sound.
1. I submit ticket to Facilities.
10. Facilities closes ticket saying that's up to Service Desk.
11. I submit ticket to Service Desk
100. Service Desk closes ticket saying that up to Facilities
110. ???

Working for a company with solid procedures really makes me appreciate how important they are. Knowing someone will be scanning through my pull request made me *really think* about appropriate layout and commenting. Before I could submit any old code and the other programmer wouldn't give a monkeys.
I guess that's a poor reflection on my performance but, I'm working on it -
I kinda hate how even if people submit good and useful code to OSS repositories, you need to act like a salesperson if you want anyone to notice/care about it
-
My reward for understanding this thing is an early night. Time for bed :) remind me not to submit this assignment with the comments still in it. As I have done before.3
-
Finishing up for the day and about to submit our app for review over the weekend. Everything's wrapped up nicely with a bow. Click Submit For Review. Head home for the long weekend.
Open up laptop hours later to check something, see iTunesConnect on the "Does this application use the IDFA advertising identifier" page.
😐
Oh yeah. There's another step. 😖2 -
I have been asked to submit a piece of code for review for an interview, something I'm proud of writing.
What kind of code snippet would you submit? (A custom sort.. a tricky bit of data manipulation etc)7 -
Looking for a second opinion/validation.
*Me: “Perhaps this simple and concise way to ensure the user doesn’t lose their data before they leave the page that requires non-zero yet minimal input from the user. (Read: ya gotta push a save/submit button)”
*Everyone else: Let’s pretend to read the user’s mind and perform relatively complicated functions behind the scenes, of which the user will most likely be unaware, that will add an undetermined amount of complexity to the development because we think it’s “where things are going,” by saving the value of a certain HTML element as it loses focus.
Edit: this is an exclusively-internally used app.4 -
"This application has stopped working. Oops, something went wrong." Proprietary software, no error message, only option is to accept your fate or submit a report to your system overlords
-
I feel this should go without saying: When you submit your curriculum vitae to a company in search of a job offer, or at least an interview then plz plz plz pretty please eith cherries on top make sure that you at l ast tailored the application towards the general direction of the industry for which you are trying to apply.
Some of the applications we got......booooooooooy these people.....6 -
PM: "This is a critical bug fix needed before we submit to Apple."
Me: *reads bug story*
Me: "Wait, this is only repo on a Galaxy S5?"
PM: "Yup! It's stopship."
Me: 😑 "No." -

Excuse me, how long ago did I submit my application?

What exactly am I even supposed to answer.4 -
Commented on bit bucket to a PR about a missing @para. Hit submit and bam everyone gets an email and sees the following. Turns out @param is someones handler:1

I just love the Windows Developer Support... but unfortunately I don't have the possibility to use it (error when try to submit an incident). :D
Maybe it's a feature, not a bug...3 -
Today I submitted my code without making sure it doesn't have any bugs because I was running out of time. Fuck.
Let's hope I'm brilliant and this works out.1 -
Now I have a Course called "Microprocessor and Assembly Language" this semester. I'm not understanding much of it from the classes (I don't find our teacher very good at teaching). So couple of days ago she says we have to submit projects at the end of this semester and it must be something related to hardware, not software(as she thinks Assembly is a language for Hardware). Now I have to submit a proposal to her very soon with an idea for the project. I'm killing myself over it but can't find any idea. Can anyone help me regarding this matter?16

Can we stop that trend of only showing the username field and then show the password field after filling the username clicking next? It messes with my Keepass browser addon.
Apart from that, it messes with human workflow as well. Enter Username -> TAB -> Enter Password -> ENTER. With that stupid UI you have to either focus the next button with Tab and hope hitting Enter does not already submit the login form or switch to mouse and click the Next button.10 -
I just want to take a moment to appreciate how lovely and non-aggressive the subscription process for a Mozilla dev newsletter is.
They show a list of topics like
- Mozilla tech
- add on mails
etc
Only the dev newsletter is preselected by default and the rest are unsubscribed by default.
So if I just submit, I'll just get dev mails and I can subscribe to the rest only if I want to.
This is so much better than chrome or other Google bullshit where if I subscribe to a dev newsletter I'm automatically subscribed to every single piece of shit mail available.
You go Mozilla. Thanks for not being a piece of shit. -
Hello, brilliant minds!
I am participating in a hackathon based on web development and I need to submit potential problem statements for the same. They have some predetermined domains, but I am unable to look for a suitable problem. The domains are:
1. eCommerce
2. eGovernance: Smart City
3. Fitness
4. Social Innovation
5. Tool/Library/Extension for devs
6. Travel
7. Women's safety
I will have 6 hours to code. Please suggest some of your best ideas. Thanks in advance!
Love,

Hello Everyone,
I was wondering could any VS Code users submit links to their setups and recommended extensions.
Thanks in advance.
I'm posting mine as well. Though it's pretty barebones7 -
developing Android application for reporting Road events....
I was late to submit an update consisting of the Users Report History with options to view, delete and Re-report(which didn't make sense since it's reported already).....
I had to put a Toast to thank user for reporting but literally nothing is sent to server -
Why do people design web apis where the way you submit your authorization is via a custom header?
Especially when the authorization is literally a token?
Am I ingesting something special?10 -
Set-up a 5 node EC2 cluster in AWS; Install my dependencies on all; Add private keys between all for handshake; Submit my Hadoop job for processing; AWS closes my instance within 10 minutes of starting a job that took me almost half an hour to set-up because the master node's spot costs have reached more than 15 USD :(2

Does anyone have a good (preferably funny) name for a competitive programming team?
I was thinking "it compiles; submit it" but that is slightly unoriginal...27 -
Hi guys, I’m that good guy MIS who knows a little bit python and got “promoted” to write a warehouse management system in C#, which I have never use it before.
Just now I submit my first pull request to DevOps and got accepted.
Just a small EF core and barcode generators stuff but I’m so glad I made some progress 😬3 -
Create a html page on paper, a simple form.
That part was easy.
The hard part was to create the ajax submit function with the validation, jquery is ok.
Failed the test because no way i can remember those shit.
That was 6 years ago -
So, whenever I delay windows 10 update restart a few times, things start breaking. Wifi doesn't work, 100% cpu, ram or mem usage, sound problems etc. And all this goes away once I submit my soul and update. I'm sick of this shit 😡. Today I got a BSOD after which it updated and things seem fine FOR NOW.
Does this happen to other Win 10 users?8 -
If I could I just wouldn't support email in any way shape anymore.
It's just too much hassle with all the spam filters and people just don't understand how email works.
Nobody fucking reads it anyway.... but everyone wants like a bazillion variations on stupid emails that go out that nobody will read.
They don't get that email is often instant ... but is actually async.
They don't understand that just because they got an email sent to their own distribution list ... and someone took them off the list... that doesn't mean that WE an outside group emailing that list stopped sending them messages.
Nobody actually looks at their spam filters until I tell them to do it for the 3rd time. And as if by magic folks at the same company don't 'have spam filter problems all the time'.
I had a company 'security' filter that straight up followed all the links in an email (that's fine ... we're good, I get that).... and then their stupid bot or whatever would actually click options on a form and fucking submit the fucking form!!!!!
I mean I get that maybe some sites have folks submit some shit and then deliver malware but that's gonna have consequences submitting shit none the less because I don't know it's just your fucking bot...
So they'd get various offers from our customers and bitch when they went to find it was already gone.5 -
So, you have some coffee, make up your mind, and sit down to begin the project you need to submit the next day.
You fire up the machine and bam! Windows takes it's April update - "Do not turn off your PC", and a fucking rotation of evil dots on the screen for eternity.
And it goes on and on, on and on, till you have lost all mood for work.3 -
Is there a website blog where you can submit tutorials for other devs? And if so, is there a way for devs who find the article useful to (optionally) donate a tip like the price of a cup of coffee or similar?27
-
Had to submit a form and couldn't because of some js errors. I hacked my way through with the console to submit none the less

In an IT management class, the professor wanted us to estimate the operation costs for a small IT company, breaking them down by service offered. I remember creating a markdown file, multiple times executing the line `echo $RANDOM >> estimations.md`. We rounded the numbers slightly, pimped the document a bit and submitted a nice PDF. When we had to present our work, the professor asked us how we had proceeded to calculate those results. We told him a story about an Excel file we worked on, but did not submit, because we thought he'd be interested in the end result and not care about those details. He asked us to submit that Excel calculation, because he wanted to comprehend our method. So we got together, created an Excel sheet, copied our "estimations" into column C and called it "service cost". For column B, we used the same "cost per man hour" value (scientifically estimated using the RAND() function) for every row. Finally, we divided the "service cost" by the "cost per man hour" for every row, put the result in column A and called it "effort (in man hours)". The professor, being able to "reproduce" our estimation, accepted our solution.2

If you're going to submit an assignment late, can you at least *read* the assignment? Literally wasting both of our times'

Technical meeting
We were at technical meeting a while ago, they discussed our infrastructure implementation, all was good.
Then some motherfucker of our technicians, suggested that we should move to bitbucket, I fought fiercely to don't even think about leaving bitbucket.
Suddenly the cock swallowers bosses agreed to bitbucket, they submit their changes.
10 min after the meeting i broke into the biggest boss room, gave him my resignation letter, I just told him, signing your acceptance to move to bitbucket, you should sign this too.
Boom, assholes.
I'm free now.3 -
So, you have to build an app for your company. Once it is done you submit it for the test team who ignores it completely. Then they assume that the best time to test it is after the production deployment and then everything becomes a urgency.
The best part is the PM trying to make you feel guilty about leaving after 12+ hours of work because you didn't finish everything.1 -
One hour before a deadline, one of my team members notified me he had completed his task and signed off. The only thing left to do for me was to merge our branches and submit the code for review. This was supposed go smooth with only a few changes made. But for some reason the build kept crashing and this ONE hour before the deadline and no way to reach my team member... This was a stressful situation to say the least.
And yes I am aware that you are not supposed to be merge branches one hour before deadlines. -
Someone : this is not critical, if you have more important task or deadlines, prioritize it first.
Me : doing my more important task/deadlines
Someone, chatting me every hour : Is it ready? I need to submit it ASAP!!!!
What a pain in the ass!!!! -
What happens when you give a database design to your boss as per what he wants done, he sees it is not impressed, scolds you, curses you out and claims you are 'fraud'. Then you tell him you can do better to redeem yourself...you submit the work better than the first time
And then he terminates you due to 'lack of proficiency'.3 -
Finally start contributing to the FOSS world. I’ve used stuff like express and vscode for years, but am yet to open an issue or submit a pr to any major FOSS repo1

Experimenting with Vue.js, I have made a UK train timetable for wallboards. Its fully client based and doesn't involve any server side scripts. Costs nothing to run at all.
Find it here: https://trainwall.uk/

Do submit PRs and pull requests if you find stuff can be done better as this is my first Vue.js side-project.2 -
Client: Thank you for this and all your hard work we will review and get back to you EOP Friday before final submit.
Us: We have been working to a deadline and have actually finished early which meant that we would be able to submit on Friday, at the very least by the afternoon. One question...is this your time EOP Friday?
Client: Yes
Us: That'll be 2 in the morning here and a Saturday.2 -
I just remembered that 2 years ago I found an open-redirect vulnerability in one of Google's old pages.
I decided to not submit it to Google because it's too much effort (even though I knew they pay for these things) and told about it to a friend who deals with these things.
I was SO. DAMN. STUPID.1 -
I started building an application for FIDAL (Italian Federation of Athletics) because why not: I was bored and wanted to learn Flutter.
There is no API, but I didn't even expect it. Parsing the HTML is easy enough.
BUT OH MY GOD THE ENTIRE WEBSITE IS SHIT. Take this page: http://www.fidal.it/graduatorie.php, it uses some useless jQuery plugin and uses a buttload of JavaScript that isn't even needed. BUT WAIT. Try entering an invalid "club code" (http://fidal.it/graduatorie.php/...), a FUCKING white page with 200, are you kidding?
I'd also like to mention that all pages that require form input won't load correctly if you don't include "submit=Invia" in the URL.
I am not giving up.3 -
I apply to a company. Their system loses my resume, so they contact me to submit it again saying they like what they see in my application (had to write code for them and include info that's also on my resume). I send my resume. Less than 8 hours later the fuckers email me to say I'm no longer being considered.6

Little OT but I'm about to submit my phd thesis for print and electronic publishing. Publisher scaled the A4 version to A5 but lost all links that were in the document (LaTeX & hyperref).
Tried to solve the problem by myself using Ghostscript but got lost at CropBox, MediaBox, TrimBox and page size. One day is already lost.1 -
I just want to run your stupid tests so I can submit a PR to fix a stupid bug that has been there for ages and nobody has figured out how to fix why do I need npx to run tests in a stupid python project?! l3

I wanted to suggest a functionality (keyboard shortcut) to a website. I see that their feedback button was pretty visible, which is weird because most websites I've visited first take you through 3 layers of "have you googled your question first?" before they let you send a question or feedback. Alas, I fell into the trap. First they asked me for the typical intrusive demographic info, and then they asked me marketing questions, and then... that's it. They didn't let me submit any feedback. They just took my info and left. great3

The new devRant avatar feature is so cool and there are so many ideas for customization being posted. Maybe at some point our dev community can build and submit custom devRant avatar objects according to devRant specs. I might even try to build a Bernoulli box 😀
Thoughts?1 -
My week was going great, started an online course on coursera.org. It was on algorithms, somone recommended it to me here. After spending like an awesome 3 hours learning about dynamic connectivity algorithms, I find out I have to submit code in Java!!! If you hate Java then u get me, then there's a deadline, OBVIOUSLY!!! I only know the basic Java syntax, can't even believe I got this far without coding a project in Java. So now I have to polish up on Java and write a percolation java project, no biggie!4

Vendor: We screwed up and need to start the project from the scratch, this delays the project completion by a year.
Me: OK. Anything you need from me?
V: The good news is that you've given us all we need. Everything should be fine to submit and review by the end of March. (Deadline for 2018 completion is mid-April 2017)
* This week *
Vendor: We need this (partially unspecified) documentation urgently, and also we're missing these parts (~3 weeks effort).
All of which could've been started 3 months ago… -

Best? Clojure docs. They have disqus-like thing under every function description where anyone can submit their usage example. One example times forty submissions equals forty examples!
Also w3c specs, nuff said.
Worst? GunJS. Multiple websites that look like each other plus GitHub wiki all with the same content but idk which one should I use, also there is no complete source, you have to look up everywhere. Also NextJS, they’re too busy pitching to investors, there is no way of contacting them, you’re in your own if you choose nextjs, that’s why I banned it everywhere I have the power to ban things -
So, I just started Week of Code 23, this was my first online competition. I got the email to start the first challenge and I clicked the link, then I went to do something else. When I got back I solved the challenge in 5 minutes (or less idk). I clicked submit, and then looked at the leaderboard.
My current position was something around 900 and I took 70+ minutes to complete the assignment xD :p
Bye chances of winning a t-shirt2 -
Using Oracle ADF along with ADF Faces to build a simple learning management system. No JavaScript, no external stylesheets, all inline styles, no client side validation, doing form submit for every field's onblur event triggering a server-side validation, creating a VO for every damn page requiring data, creating an EO for every DB table or view, adding big-ass custom queries for most EOs to join on multiple tables, frequent N+1 queries, etc.,
Idont remember the rest of the problems5 -
> be me
> complete tickets overnight
> submit for review

Colleges now require proof of vaccination but admins are worried about the spread of fake vaccine cards
https://apnews.com/article/...
My mindblowing solution: require students to submit a covid antibody test result instead.
You can't spoof the lab test result number and it can be easily verified by calling the lab...
Can even create a site for that...
isTestValid.com
Worried about privacy... Have labs upload a hash of the data...
And user submit their hash...
Clearly nobody asked a dev for they're input... again3 -
A few months back I was talking with our web team and we determined a ticketing software would be useful for clients to submit website updates. Rather than request we buy one, because we constantly get told to stop spending, I spent my free time building it out. We tested it and decided it was ready to present to management.
Management tells us that clients aren't going to use something like this (4 fields and optional file upload). The project sits in a repo untouched for some months.
<Time passes>
Company-wide email come in announcing our brand new ticket system for clients to submit issues about our software. Then a second email comes in to me asking why the web team never thought to do something like that and went on about how useful it would be if we had something similar. I link them to the one I built and my notes from our previous meeting.
Manager who told me clients would never use this: Let's talk about this next week and see if we can get people to use it.
It's been 3 weeks and the meeting has been rescheduled 5 times.1 -
Just finished making an ER diagram for the 5th time now.
It was less painful this time. (Thanks draw.io)
(About the 4th ER diagram - le professor says "It looks like a flow chart, that's not right", but it's clearly not?)
I'll have to submit the draft tomorrow to the professor, I just hope that he green lights it so I could finalize the project report.
I hate making ER diagrams now. -
My eyes are bleeding! I've been working on a uni assignment for the last 48 hours on account of being a fucking asshole and leaving it for the last minute... Gotta submit in 12 hours and now I'm here talking shit and ++ing because shit, why not... What a piece of work.3

Today was a holiday and I wanted to make a mini project for practice purpose, the generic idea was to submit form details and view the details in another file and get the said details on e-mail too.
The main purpose of this exercise was to strengthen my OOP skill.
Not two minutes and 1 text box later I get a call to reset all passwords of "friend" because it was "urgent" somehow..
Reset passwords for fuck's sake...Now I am having this idea of automating reset password job.. -

A few months back, I had this interview with this guy to work at his startup. It was wonderful and he told me that I am hired (during the interview itself!). The position was of an intern as I was to start my co-op. So, to complete all the process with the university, I need offer letter to submit. The guy did not send me one, instead he sent an NDA. I emailed him explaining that I need an offer letter to submit to the university first before I sign any agreement. He stopped replying to my emails.
I had no other option so I contacted my university's co-op committee and explained them the situation. They contacted that guy and after that I get an email saying "We would like to move forward with other candidates".
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH REVENUE TO PAY, DO NOT CONDUCT INTERVIEWS. AND WHY THE FUCK DID YOU SAY "YOU ARE HIRED IN THE FIRST PLACE?!" MORON -
Strapi...
So much promise let down by poor documentation. Adding custom commands is not in the docs but is supported in the code.
Spent 2 weeks through trial and error trying to get custom commands written to import content and its been a pain in the ass.
When your documentation is written, give it out to novice or intermediate programmers with minimal exposure to your system. Note down their issues and improve the documentation.
Hell, why not add a form to submit feedback on the docs to a dedicated team of writers.
Anyone here good with Strapi who could assist?1 -
today during the stand-up I said: "if everything goes OK, I'll submit the PR by noon"; guess what? everything went to hell. FML

So there is this website called 100daysofrunning.in one of the worst design seen ever. They've a submit page which is another app that opens in an iframe.
If you're part of challenge, everyday you've to submit a form. Distance, time, Strava link, date and it's a pain to do so every day.
On the 50th day they restricted the date to7 days, so you cannot post data older then 7 days.
Being a programmer it would have been insult had i entered data manually.
Thanks to casperjs, meteorjs i was able to automate fetch from strava and post on this dumb page.
One day due an error, the script failed and I've missed one day of data entry. That's 2km of running gone invain and I'm out of the challenge.
Programming has mad me lazy. Screw programming. I should've been a dumb idiot to manually add data spending fkin 30 mins, atleast life would be simple. -
Got a phishing email with a link to a website hosted by wix. The only thing on the site was a form and submit button so I’m sure it’s for collecting credentials. I was able to report them and wix shut it down which was nice. But I was thinking, if someone were to ddos the web server, what action would wix do? Would they let the requests keep coming and increase the customers bill? Or would they just shut down the server?2

1) Read the ticket.
2) Create a branch with ticket number in name.
3) Move ticket to Working now section.
4) Make some changes according to the ticket.
5) Commit changes to branch. Than pull it.
6) Create pull request and submit it.
7) Move ticket into In review section.
8) Move to another ticket.
Tickets:
#7 - Change background size in product item.
#8 - Add icon to info flash message.
#9 - Add adaptiveHeight parameter to the slick slider.
Done, now another 30 tickets...
Yep, this is my workflow i'm forced to now.2 -
OK. So you task me with a project with incomplete requirements. I probe for more details and submit my design based on that. Then I learned that the incompetent bunch you've hired as support and devs cannot fill a proper documentation request right and they STILL have details untold, and now I have to change my design again. But yes, Its totally my fault. I am such a bad system designer am so deserving of a bad performance review.2
-
The hardest thing about writing code that works can be logic. For example, figuring out how to say you want to go to the next page when the form submit button is pressed, but not actually move to the next step is an error was thrown during processing.
This is one of those times when. I force a random member of my family to sit there and listen to me talking, pretty much to myself, until I figure it out. But hey, it generally turns out pretty good! (If not my energetic nephew)4 -
fighting with a submit button callback not firing..... at least the cat and I have good music to listen to.1

Fuck Facebook!
Disabling apps without warnings or anything which means no customer login. This is a huge pain since the solution doesn't have any way to login to the same account with another credential.
"Oh did you use that? Now you can't. And the only way to do anything is to submit a form to 'appeal' the case which we'll just reject without any notifications or emails"
Normally I won't rant like this or use that much swearing.. but in this case:
Fuck you, Facebook. Fuck. You.7 -
I'm about to submit an app to the App Store. I took some time to make sure signing in/out of different social media accounts worked properly in my app.
I've been locked out of my Facebook developer account since yesterday due to "suspicious activity" and was asked to upload a photo of myself to verify my identity. I'm not too confident my account will be unlocked as I don't use Facebook regularly and therefore never felt the need to upload a profile picture.
Fantastic.2 -
I'm so frickin' frustrated with school stuff right now. I have to submit all assignments as .doc or .docx files, but nothing hates me more than WYSIWYG text editors. Nothing ever works as it's supposed to and I keep thinking to myself: "If I could just submit an HTML file, this assignment would've been done already..." 😕7

For our product there is a common type of bug we get reported. It is not really a bug, also it is not a feature - instead it is a missing or incomplete feature.
For example to help users we add a search feature on one screen, but there is no search on some other screen. Now the absence of search on that screen is apparently a bug.
To make things worse to report the bug users try to trick us. They say something like:
"Hey can you help me? How can I find things in the abc screen?"
So I explain how to browse for the item or whatever.
Then they say:
"Ok now how do you do that on the xyz screen?"
Slightly suspiciously I now tell them how you can browse for the item like before or we have this new feature eg. search you can use if that is quicker.
Now they say:
"Don't you think it would be better to have that search on the first screen?"
OK now I realize this is just a trick and the person doesn't actually need help using the software. So I tell him how we only added the feature on one screen and if he thinks there is value adding it on other screens he can put enhancement request in and if wants he can talk to my boss about making it a priority.
Then they go on asking other rhetorical questions like:
"why was it designed like this?"
"Are you guys deliberately trying to make life harder for people by making them learn different ways to do things?"
I now want to delete the new search feature but luckily it is close to lunch time so I have a good excuse to escape the conversation.3 -
Few things hack me off more than devs who can't be bothered to do a task properly, so just submit some random crap as a PR that looks half correct at some surface level in the vague hope it gets approved.
This team is about creating decent, tested, reliable, resilient backend infrastructure, and we need to trust devs in order to do that. If you want to pull the half-arsed, do as little as possible and get paid as much as possible approach then sod off to higher management somewhere.1 -
Ugh! I feel so low and less motivated because I am unable to solve the interview practice questions really well.
This is fucking annoying. I am not sure what is that that I am lacking.
I got the framework. I have problem statements. I am practicing mocks. I got the feedback and I implemented it.
I have spent ~30 hours on this till now. Solved around ~20 cases, 10 of each category.
Should I now purely bet on luck? Maybe I'll take a break and submit the other companies case assignment to divert my mind.
I need to crack the interview and land the offer at all cost. There is no chance or scope for failure.7 -
So, apparently the female front-enders won't get fired even though they submit works that even doesn't meet up close to the requirements.
Management want to keep good PR.

I had an a assignment to submit in the same week i had an infi exam. I wrote this comment and submitted. I submitted it a bit late so I lose points for it, but except that I got all the points.
FYI I know infi is written as "Infinity" in English, but learned that later. -
I been doing a online course and they provide a exercise to do in Jupyter notebook.
I notice that the exercise they wanted us to do this time is too complex. After finishing the exercise I submit it for review.
I thought I am doing an exercise but I had actually done an assignment and submit it :(
Lucky I pass that assignment. It is the worst misunderstanding I have done during my student life. -

If you somehow, someway, for any reason didn’t know it, emails are valid action attributes for HTML forms.
Yes.
You can submit forms to emails, and it works for ages now. Backend isn’t needed.6 -
I'm developing an app for a not so mobilefriendly website.
I do not coorporate with the webmaster, yet, so I need to sort of reverse engineer my way around everything (basically just one feature.. xD).
It's a website for people who likes to fish, and they *have* to submit their catches. So, when people submit their catches via the form and click "Submit", the URL they are sent to goes like
http://url.tld/submit_catch.asp/...
I can't figure out if that is a POST request, or what it is.
Somehow, I need to submit a catch from the Android App, and all I currently got is that URL.
What do I need to look into to solve my issue here? Any help appreciated :)22 -

Extending a deadline for a paper:
Create a word file, fill it with Lorem ipsum.
Save.
Open the word document with notepad.
Delete soms gibberish code.
Save
Word will throw an error saying the file is corrupt.
Teacher will ask for the file again after the deadline.

Deceiving a plagiarism detector.
only works if you can submit multiple times and no resource is mentioned or checked by teachers
Plagiarize something but not to much, submit it. Change a few words. Submit again.
The system will check the first submission against the second one and determine its 99% plagiarism of your own paper. -

Today's progress. Updated the cms to update category titles :D So when you click the edit link, it displays the current category title in the input field. Then you just change the value and submit it to update the database info for that specific category. Fun stuff! -
I often wonder if tech recruiters realize we are evaluating them and their “opportunities” just as much as they will be evaluating us if they consider us at all. When recruiters send me opportunities and then never follow up, even with a “sorry, you weren’t selected”, when I submit my application and résumé, they’d better not be wondering why I don’t apply to anything else they send me.4

Getting a CodinGame puzzle's description without scraping the page.
I spent hours playing with different endpoints and changing values in postman, all to no avail. The most promising endpoint also returned user progress, which requires authentication, which requires a dummy account, which is against their ToS (it is allowed to reverse engineer the API though).
Turns out you just had to submit “null” for your user ID and it would remove the progress field.
Why is this tagged bad design?

For almost anything, you POST json arrays...

In spent more than an hour trying to figure out why a form didn't work.
I pressed the submit button and nothing happened, no error in the console and nothing in the Network tab in Chrome's devtools. And the action was being executed!
Then I found out there was a catch somewhere. I removed and it said that the url was wrong. But again, I debugged it and nothing seemed wrong. I even hardcoded the values.
At the end, it turned out that the initial "/" was missing in the request url... -

Had a lab for class that asked for something super simple in Java. All you had to do was submit your source code when it was done, go through some test conditions, and if it passed you were free to go. I finished the work in 10 minutes, yet spent the next 40 trying in vain to submit it. The work was fine, I knew it was right, but no matter what I changed, the damn thing wouldn't accept my work. After countless attempts and changes, getting the professor herself over there looking at it, I finally figured it out.
I was submitting the class file by mistake.
Some errors are harder than others, I guess. -

I've been looking for an open source bugtracker. The Idea is to make it public and lets clients submit their tickets. I looked at redmine and truth be told: I can't do the ruby,so it dropped. Bugzilla? Well... please no. Flyspray.... well we tried but don't get along. I stuck with mantis2 because it's the only thing with eyecandy i've found even though the source is a hellish mix of 1000+ lines of wild php and html mixes. The rest either doesn't fit or looks too old. I also don't mind throwing a buck or two but i want to run it on my own server and do fancy stuff to it if i want to.4 -

Trying to add money to a prepaid SIM card today. Their website is a mess. Plus and minus buttons were not functioning, so my only option was to add 15 euro. Checked the console, no errors. Tried triggering the buttons jQuery, no luck. Found a data value attached to the submit button set to 15. Changed to 10, clicked submit, and BOOM, it worked! You just got engineered!
After I paid, I was curious, went back and set it to -15, and tried it again. Unfortunately, they know about backend validation. -
I have been asked to submit an explanation since i didnt complete the work on friday as well as not using saturday to complete it .

My lecturer gets a fucking high five in the face with a chair. An assignment required us to submit a video via his provided media. I followed the simple 27.6 steps that the media requested and I submitted the video. Come results, his comments say he sees that there was a video submission being attempted, but since he could not find the video he decided to give me a 0 as opposed to contacting me prior to marking and asking for resubmission.. It's probably easy being a lecturer cuz you're the one with the degree...1

Building a site in Foundation 6, and there's a form where users may need to add new possible entries to a pool of valid choices, so I've got a second form that loads in a modal below the main form.
The second form loads fine, but when I try to use AJAX to submit the form and process things without leaving the page, Foundation stops working.
jQuery(document).ready() breaks it.
Just doing jQuery('form.ajax_form').ajax() without the .ready() wrapper breaks it, too.
Going to just wall it off as a beta feature for now, but if anyone has any idea why it isn't working, I'm all ears. -

Is it a good approach to use MariaDB in one Server and MongoDB in another one to store various client's data?
The reason I need MongoDB is because the client has to create custom Maintenance Checklist (which mean he has to create rows and columns), and then submit these data based on specific period. And I am finding hard time how to design this on MariaDB, even with dynamic columns since it might bring performance issue.8 -

I have applied for credit card online and they have call me and asked me for info and send some messages which I need to forward someone that contain codes.
After that they ask for some docs, salary slips and bank statement etc. I got stuck for some tax forms.
So one day they just called that its ok if you can't submit your tax docs , we can make verification through debit card, I thought the call was genuine and I am in cc process, I shared my pin. and wohaaaa. my balance was deducted :( Thats was indeed a scam call.7 -

Starting my first small c++ project with website interaction on an Ubuntu server as practice for next semester. Any good recommendations to get user input from a webpage using only c++ (there can be html within the c++ program of course) and libraries?

Recently I've purchased a new laptop and so far it's working smoothly as I expected.
And yesterday I had a dream in which, laptop was got broken in the middle where the screen gets attached. But I was trying very hard to get the internet to submit a request for replacement and suddenly I woke up and very first I checked the laptop condition.
Anyway today I'll goto sleep and again will try to place replacement request for my laptop before date get expired.7 -

So Im still a college student but my worst burnout happened a week before finals this year as a sophomore at DigiPen
On the same week, I had to conduct and submit 10 playtests for my competitive Unity game by Friday, submit said game polished and completed on Sunday, finish and submit my team game project that I've been working on the whole year with 10 other people also on Sunday (which we would discover so many TCR submission issues we ended up finally resubmitting on Thursday the following week).
On top of this I had to write a memory manager for my operating systems class due Thursday, a water retainment assignment involving recursive queues for my Data Structures class due Saturday, and to top it all off that class also had a final Thursday when that memory manager was due :'). I don't know how I managed to get OK sleep.
All stuff was due that week so all game teams could have next week before finals to work on submitting, so some CS teachers also move their finals to before that to theoretically distribute the load (which sucks for people in my major because we're almost a double major for CS and Game Design) However my team wanted to submit early to snatch some bonus points but we ended up having to resubmit late anyways :(. Due to the week of hell we were already burned out when trying fix our resubmission.
I love the school and the people in it but there's a reason why our most heard phrase is "I want to die" and no its not just a millenial thing I swear. -

Went to a dotNET interview yesterday and I had to do a simple MCV app. They were using Visual Studio 2017, so I thought "cool! I can use some C# 6-7 features!". But for some reason it didn't build...and the errors were not very helpful!

Something I've been thinking about for some time: many sites allow you to hit Ctrl+Enter to submit a form (while the focus is on some of the form's input fields) and I think it would be nice if DevRant does the same. Right now, to submit, I have to either use the mouse and click the button or hit Tab two times and then Space.2

Settle an argument for our development team. We have infrastructure to report crashes when they occur, via a simple online form submission. The form provides basic fields for a description and an email address, and also posts some basic telemetry (rebuilding what it can of call stack, variables etc). Currently the email address is optional (you can submit the form and leave it blank). The form is not mandatory (the user can hit 'send' to submit online, 'save' to save the crash report to transfer in other ways, or 'cancel' to just ignore it entirely (irregardless of their choice, depending on where the crash has occurred, they may be able to continue using the application or it might exit).
A suggestion has been put forward to make the email address mandatory. Surprisingly, this has kicked off an incredibly polarising debate, so I thought I would put it to devRant to see what is the consensus here.
I'm trying not to bias the discussion by stating with the considerations at play, but would encourage you to think about them before chiming in!4 -
