Bit Shift used to be just a regular terminal technician in Stable 45, but the stable’s policy of scientific study and experimentation without any ethics oversight, coupled with rising tensions between the science teams and the Overmare, led to him being kidnapped and fitted with a mind-controlling brain dome as part of a plan to take over the stable. Thankfully, he and the others selected for the project managed to break free and escape before the mind control spells were finished.

Due to the dome’s intended purpose for conflict and mind control, it includes enchantments that make it fairly resistant to damage—more so than regular glass—and a standard serial port allows any compatible Robronco terminal to connect to the dome, enabling Bit to interface with and hack those systems directly. However, the dome puts his brain at high risk being so exposed, and its glow prevents most attempts at stealth. Additionally, the physical barrier between brain and body prevents the mental effects of chems (e.g. Med-X), reducing their effectiveness.
