Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez hails from the Bronx in New York, to which she pays homage in her 2002 hit song “Jenny from the Block.” She is of Puerto Rican descent. Born to Guadalupe (“Lupe”) Lopez and David Lopez, she has an older sister Leslie Ann and a younger sister Lynda. She made her film debut with a small role in 1986’s My Little Girl and her television debut arrived when she was cast as one of the hip-hop dancers or “Fly Girls” on the comedy show In Living Color.

In addition to appearing in a slew of films starting in the 1980s from action flicks to rom-coms, Lopez, who also goes by JLo, also made her foray into music with her debut album On The 6 (1999) which featured “Let’s Get Loud” and “Waiting for Tonight.” Her second album J.Lo (2001) sold over 270,000 copies in its first week. Lopez’s love life has been under constant scrutiny by the public eye as she dated rapper and producer Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs and actor Ben Affleck.

Lopez was married to Ojani Noa for a year (1997-1998) and Chris Judd from 2001 to 2003. She dated Affleck after filing for divorce from Judd, and she announced her engagement to Affleck in 2002, but the pair called off their wedding hours before it was set to take place. She was married to Marc Anthony for seven years until they split in 2001. They share two children – twins Emme and Max.

Ben Affleck inspired songs like “Dear Ben,” and he featured in the music video for “Jenny from the Block” which showed the couple on a private yacht. She continued to release pop albums like This Is Me…Then (2002), Love? (2011) and most recently This Is Me… Now (2024) which was accompanied by a cinematic original film on Prime Video and a documentary behind the making of the film. The work touches on how she and Affleck rekindled their romance twenty years later after, as does Marry Me (2022). Other recent films J.Lo has starred in include Shotgun Wedding (2023), The Mother (2023) and Atlas (2024). JLo co-chaired the 2024 Met Gala, and she is signed on to produce a Bob the Builder film.

She was set to go on a greatest hits tour for This Is Me...Now, but she cancelled it to "spend more time with her family and close friends."
