They lived next to one another but their parents forbade their love. Pyramus and Thisbe would constantly speak through the wall until they had enough and planned to meet and run away together. The wall symbolizes not only the physically boundaries but the boundaries placed on them by their family for forbidding their love.

When Pyramus arrives to the mulberry tree at Ninus's tomb, he discovers the lioness with Thisbe's bloody shawl and assumes Pyramus has been eaten by the animal. Heartbroken, he stabs himself fatally with his sword.
