Combined forms ceramics

Unique hand-sculpted bone form sculpture, from the Shadow series. Drawing on the idea of Jungian shadow work, these pieces were conceived as vessels for a ritual performed to bring aspects of the unconscious shadow self into the light. A ceremony to identify and integrate parts of the repressed subconscious, assimilating them into the conscious state with understanding and compassion. The bone forms allude to the visceral experience of intense feelings and emotions, such as shame, disgust…

Recently I was in an exhibition named “Land/Marks” in Faenza, Italy. The show was on display at the magnificent Galleria Cento Pacifici as part of Argillá Italia. Ireland was the guest country at this year's festival and I was delighted to be participating with a group of other artists from Ceramics Ireland. I partook in this elegant exhibition with my piece Pergamon No.29.

I made a pot, broke it, poked holes in it, fired it, glazed it, fired it, and crocheted it back together. Cotton yarn. @king_crabigail on instagram!
