A high energy beam scanner, called a scanning electron micrograph, was used to capture this image, which shows the surface of a human tongue. The protruding objects, called filiform papillae, can sense pressure. The flaky appearance of the papillae results from the fact that they are constantly shedding their skin to increase sensitivity. Jan Rosenboom on Instagram: "Bory - digital diatom arrangement #5 😊 Here is another digital arrangement of diatoms. The forms in this sample are just so beautiful that I just had to make one of these. :) This time it was born a bit out of necessity as the diatoms in question are so small that making such an arrangement in reality would be really hard even for me as a practiced arranger. I will try in the future though.😅 Also, taking a photo like this of such an arrangement at a decent magnification and not ruining the slide in the process would be close to impossible as you need oil immersion objectives for that. 🔬 With such objectives the distance between the slide and the objective is as low as 0.2 mm and you always apply some pressure on the arrangement almost always leading to some Diatoms Art, Cell Photography Microscopic Images, Ecosystem Art, Bacteria Under Microscope, Macro Photography Insects, Microscopic Organisms, Microscopic Photography, Repeated Pattern, Insect Photography
