There are a few excellent hotels with all the facilities that guests would require and more are under construction. There are many fine restaurants for all levels of spending. We have a cooperation with many hotels, and can even point investors in tourism to profitable ventures, but more regularly appoint reservations and obtain discounts throughout Kinshasa. If you are coming on the ferry from Brazzaville or entering via the airport (FIH), we can easily arrange airport transfer.

It is permissible to take pictures in DR Congo but you have to ask the opinion of your local guide. Exceptions are military personnel and property as well as public buildings. But please do so in a sensitive and dignifying way. Children always tend to enjoy photos, soldiers and police not.

Vaccinations: Yellow fever, international health certificate. Make sure you visit your doctor before departure to determine any other additional shots or pills, such as for malaria. Do not forget some deet-based insect-repellent, bed net, first aid kit, sunscreen, and hand sanitizer.

Cash and Exchange

Congo Travel and Tours personnel generally help with currency exchange during your trip. Exchange bureaus and banks are available in most major cities. Carry with you enough cash in US dollars for personal spending as credit cards and traveler’s checks are not known and widely NOT accepted in shops. However, ATMs do dispense both $US and Franco-Congolese monies, particularly in Kinshasa. The Visa card is more widely accepted than MasterCard, both in ATMs and in good hotels and restaurants.
