Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Alitalia's third A300B4 Airbus seen approaching runway 28L for take off at Heathrow on flight AZ281 to Rome. I believe this must have been the first ever visit of this Alitalia Airbus to Heathrow, the aircraft having only been delivered to the airline on June 30th!

In the queue is 'west' in the form of Lufthansa 737 and 'east' in the form of CSA Ilyushin Il-62 :)

It's hard to believe now, but in 1980, Airbuses were something of a novelty - little did we know then :)

I-BUSD c/n 107 - A300B4-203 - was delivered new to Alitalia in June 1980, and flew with the airline until 1998. The aircraft ended its life as a freighter conversion operating for ACT Cargo (Turkey) as TC-ACY, only being withdrawn around 2010.

Taken with a Soviet made Zenith EM camera and 300mm lens.
