English: The photographers of "W. Sander & Sohn" took photos, which often appeared in newspapers or magazines such as "Gartenlaube" or "Über Land und Meer", where their photographs were converted into steel engravings. They produced their own picture postcards. There were also series of 12 pictures as a package for sale. For example, the embarkation of East Asian troops in 1900. Thheir work resulted in many photos of the Bremerhaven and Geestemünde region. Also a number of shots of the port and ships. Or of the German Emperor when he was in Geestemünde in 1890. – Most recently, some photos from "W. Sander & Sohn" were on display at the exhibition "Bremerhaven ist Ansichtssache. Photographs from 1860 to the present day" at the "Historisches Museum Bremerhaven", 2022. – The senior Wilhelm Sander died in 1902, and his son continued to run the company alone. In 1908, he sold the company (there was also a publishing house) to the photographer Ph. Reinken. The Sander company (commercial register number A 139) was finally deleted from the commercial register by proclamation on March 31, 1938, see Reichs- und Staatsanzeiger No. 82, April 7, 1938, here: Central Trade Register Supplement, page 7.
Man produzierte eigene Bild-Postkarten. |
