KATRIN background due to surface radioimpurities
/ KATRIN Collaboration
The goal of the KArlsruhe TRItrium Neutrino (KATRIN) experiment is the determination of the effective electron antineutrino mass with a sensitivity of 0.2 eV/c$^2$ at 90% C.L. This goal can only be achieved with a very low background level in the order of 0.01 counts per second. [...]

We investigate decays of hypothetical unstable new physics particles into metastable species such as muons, pions, or kaons in the early Universe, when temperatures are in the MeV range, and study how they affect cosmic neutrinos. [...]

Three-loop $b\to s\gamma$ vertex with current-current operators
/ Fael, Matteo (CERN) ; Lange, Fabian (KIT, Karlsruhe, TTP ; KIT, Karlsruhe, IAP) ; Schönwald, Kay (Zurich U.) ; Steinhauser, Matthias (KIT, Karlsruhe, TTP)
We compute three-loop vertex corrections to $b\to s\gamma$ induced by current-current operators. The results are presented as expansions in $m_c/m_b$ with numerical coefficients which allow to cover all relevant values for the heavy quark masses in different renormalization schemes. [...]

Towards the optimal beam dump experiment to search for feebly interacting particles
/ Bondarenko, Kyrylo (SISSA, Trieste ; IFPU, Trieste ; INFN, Trieste) ; Boyarsky, Alexey (Leiden U.) ; Jacobsson, Richard (CERN) ; Mikulenko, Oleksii (Leiden U.) ; Ovchynnikov, Maksym (KIT, Karlsruhe, IAP ; Leiden U.)
Future searches for new physics beyond the Standard Model are without doubt in need of a diverse approach and experiments with complementary sensitivities to different types of classes of models. One of the directions that should be explored is feebly interacting particles (FIPs) with masses below the electroweak scale. [...]

Probing compressed dark sectors at 100 TeV in the dileptonic mono-Z channel
/ Mahbubani, Rakhi (ITPP, Lausanne) ; Zurita, José (KIT, Karlsruhe, IKP ; KIT, Karlsruhe, TTP)
We examine the sensitivity at a future 100 TeV proton-proton collider to compressed dark sectors whose decay products are invisible due to below-threshold energies and/or small couplings to the Standard Model. This scenario could be relevant to models of WIMP dark matter, where the lightest New Physics state is an (isolated) electroweak multiplet whose lowest component is stable on cosmological timescales. The CERN EP R&D; WP 1.2 aims to develop state-of-art monolithic pixel detectors using modern CMOS processes. The TPSCo 65 nm process is a suitable candidate and its radiation tolerance and sensor performance are therefore being studied. [...]

A seesaw model for large neutrino masses in concordance with cosmology
/ Escudero, Miguel (CERN) ; Schwetz, Thomas (KIT, Karlsruhe, IAP) ; Terol-Calvo, Jorge (IAC, La Laguna ; Laguna U., Tenerife)
Cosmological constraints on the sum of the neutrino masses can be relaxed if the number density of active neutrinos is reduced compared to the standard scenario, while at the same time keeping the effective number of neutrino species $N_{\rm eff}\approx 3$ by introducing a new component of dark radiation. We discuss a UV complete model to realise this idea, which simultaneously provides neutrino masses via the seesaw mechanism. [...]

We present a class of dark matter models, in which the dark matter particle is a feebly interacting massive particle (FIMP) produced via the decay of an electrically charged and/or colored parent particle. Given the feeble interaction, dark matter is produced via the freeze-in mechanism and the parent particle is long-lived. [...]
