Emittance Growth From Electron Clouds Forming in the LHC Arc Quadrupoles
/ Paraschou, Konstantinos (CERN) ; Bartosik, Hannes (CERN) ; Deniau, Laurent (CERN) ; Iadarola, Giovanni (CERN) ; Maclean, Ewen (CERN) ; Mether, Lotta (CERN) ; Papaphilippou, Yannis (CERN) ; Pieloni, Tatiana (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Potdevin, Joséphine (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Rumolo, Giovanni (CERN) et al.
Operation of the Large Hadron Collider with proton bunches spaced 25 ns apart favours the formation of electron clouds. In fact, a slow emittance growth is observed in proton bunches at injection energy (450 GeV), showing a bunch-by-bunch signature that is compatible with electron cloud effects. [...]

Study of Electron Cloud Instabilities in FCC-hh
/ Ohmi, Kazuhito (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Mether, Lotta (CERN) ; Schulte, Daniel (CERN) ; Zimmermann, Frank (CERN)
Electron cloud effects are serious issue for LHC and future hadron colliders, FCC-hh. Electron cloud causes coherent instabilities due to collective motion between beam and electrons. [...]

Transverse beam dynamics studies with high intensity LHC beams in the SPS

In order to reach the target beam parameters of the LHC injectors upgrade (LIU), about twice the presently operational intensity of LHC type beams has to be achieved. Although the planned upgrade of the main RF system will occur during the long shutdown, a series of measurements have been performed to assess the beam dynamics challenges with these very high intensity beams on the long SPS injection plateau. Progress in Mastering Electron Clouds at the Large Hadron Collider
/ Iadarola, Giovanni (CERN) ; Bradu, Benjamin (CERN) ; Mether, Lotta (CERN) ; Paraschou, Konstantinos (CERN) ; Petit, Valentine (CERN) ; Rumolo, Giovanni (CERN) ; Sabato, Luca (CERN) ; Skripka, Galina (CERN) ; Taborelli, Mauro (CERN) ; Tavian, Laurent (CERN)
During the second operational run of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) a bunch spacing of 25 ns was used for the first time for luminosity production. With such a spacing, electron cloud effects are much more severe than with the 50-ns spacing, which had been used in the previous run. [...]

Estimates of Collective Effects for the FCC-$e^+e^-$ Pre-Booster Ring

The FCC-e⁺e⁻ injector complex needs to produce and to transport high-intensity e⁺ and e⁻ beams at a fast repetition rate for topping up the collider at its collision energy. Two different options are under consideration as pre-accelerator before the bunches are transferred to the high-energy booster: either using the existing SPS machine or designing a completely new ring. Progress with Long-Range Beam-Beam Compensation Studies for High Luminosity LHC
/ Rossi, Adriana (CERN) ; Aberle, Oliver (CERN) ; Albertone, Joel (CERN) ; Barnyakov, Alexey (Novosibirsk, IYF) ; Bertarelli, Alessandro (CERN) ; Boccard, Christian (CERN) ; Carra, Federico (CERN) ; Cattenoz, Gregory (CERN) ; Delaup, Yorick (CERN) ; Fartoukh, Stephane (CERN) et al.
Long-range beam-beam (LRBB) interactions can be a source of emittance growth and beam losses in the LHC during physics and will become even more relevant with the smaller '* and higher bunch intensities foreseen for the High Luminosity LHC upgrade (HL-LHC), in particular if operated without crab cavities. Both beam losses and emittance growth could be mitigated by compensat-ing the non-linear LRBB kick with a correctly placed current carrying wire. [...]

BBA and Coupling Correction at CLIC RTML
/ Han, Yanliang (Shandong U.) ; Latina, Andrea (CERN) ; Ma, Lianliang (Shandong U.) ; Schulte, Daniel (CERN)
The CLIC Ring To Main Linac (RTML) must transport the electron and the positron bunches through more than 20 km of beamlines with minimal emittance growth. The turnaround loops (TAL) are one of the most critical sections, featuring a lattice designed to minimize emittance growth due to synchrotron radiation emission and chromaticity, while being isochronous to avoid bunch lengthening. S-band booster design and emittance preservation for the Awake $e^-$ injector

AWAKE is a proton driven plasma wakefield acceleration experiment at CERN which uses the protons from the SPS. It aims to study the self modulation instability of a proton bunch and the acceleration of an externally injected electron beam in the plasma wakefields, during the so called Phase II until the technical stop of LHC and its injector chain (LS2) in 2019.
