Quarkonium production in high energy proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions / Conesa del Valle, Z. (Strasbourg, IPHC ; CERN) ; Corcella, G. (Frascati) ; Fleuret, F. (Ecole Polytechnique) ; Ferreiro, E.G. (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Kartvelishvili, V. (Lancaster U.) ; Kopeliovich, B. (Santa Maria U., Valparaiso ; CCTVal, Valparaiso) ; Lansberg, J.P. (Orsay, IPN) ; Lourenco, C. (CERN) ; Martinez, G. (SUBATECH, Nantes) ; Papadimitriou, V. (Fermilab) et al.
We present a brief overview of the most relevant current issues related to quarkonium production in high energy proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions along with some perspectives. After reviewing recent experimental and theoretical results on quarkonium production in pp and pA collisions, we discuss the emerging field of polarisation studies. [...]

We review the prospects for quarkonium-production studies in proton and nuclear collisions accessible during the upcoming phases of the CERN Large Hadron Collider operation after 2021, including the ultimate high-luminosity phase, with increased luminosities compared to LHC Runs 1 and 2. We address the current experimental and theoretical open issues in the field and the perspectives for future studies in quarkonium-related physics through the exploitation of the huge data samples to be collected in proton-proton, with integrated luminosities reaching up to 3/ab, in proton-nucleus and in nucleus-nucleus collisions, both in the collider and fixed-target modes. Measurement of quarkonium production in ALICE / Feuillard, Victor (Heidelberg U.) /ALICE Collaboration
ALICE is designated to study the quark-gluon plasma (QGP), a state of matter where, due to high temperature and density, quarks and gluons are deconfined. One of the probes used to investigate this state of matter is quarkonium states, bound states of either a charm and anti-charm quark pair (charmonia) or a bottom and anti-bottom quark pair (bottomonia). ALICE results on quarkonium production in pp, p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions / Bruno, Giuseppe Eugenio (Bari U. ; INFN, Bari) /ALICE Collaboration
The study of quarkonia, bound states of heavy (charm or bottom) quark-antiquark pairs such as the J/psi or the Upsilon?, provides insight into the earliest and hottest stages of high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions where the formation of a Quark-Gluon Plasma is expected. High-precision data from proton-proton collisions represent an essential baseline for the measurement of nuclear modi?cations in nucleus-nucleus collisions and serve also as a crucial test for models of quarkonium hadroproduction.
