Overview of beam intensity issues and mitigations in the CERN-SPS fast wire scanners / Veness, Raymond (CERN) ; Guerrero, Ana (CERN) ; Perez Fontenla, Ana Teresa (CERN) ; Harrison, Anthony (CERN) ; Salvant, Benoit (CERN) ; Zannini, Carlo (CERN) ; Antuono, Chiara (CERN) ; Vollinger, Christine (CERN) ; de la Fuente, Elena (CERN) ; Carra, Federico (CERN) et al.
A new design of fast wire scanner was installed in the CERN injector complex as part of the upgrades linked to the High-Luminosity LHC Project. Initial operations with these beams were good, but during the planned intensity ramp-up one early 2023, all four SPS scanners failed at the same time. [...]

Between 2019 and 2023, as part of the LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU), a major renovation of the CERN wire scanners (BWS) was performed. The main driving force was to prepare the wire scanners for the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), during which the instantaneous luminosity is expected to double, to around 5× 10³⁴cm⁻²s⁻¹. [...]

Review of CERN beam instrumentation for fixed target experiments / Roncarolo, Federico (CERN) ; Burger, Stephane (CERN) ; Guerrero, Ana (CERN) ; Lefevre, Thibaut (CERN) ; Levens, Thomas (CERN) ; Topaloudis, Athanasios (CERN) ; Trad, Georges (CERN) ; Velotti, Francesco (CERN)
Measuring beam parameters in the vicinity of fixed target experiments or interceptive devices like beam dumps is essential to ensure efficient fixed target physics and safe beam operation. At the same time the beam diagnostic reach is very often challenging in terms of robustness and performance. [...]

In the near future BabyIAXO will be the most powerful axion helioscope, relying on a custom-made magnet of two bores of 70 cm diameter and 10 m long, with a total available magnetic volume of more than 7 m$^3$. In this document, we propose and describe the implementation of low-frequency axion haloscope setups suitable for operation inside the BabyIAXO magnet. [...]

Feasibility of Slow-Extracted High-Energy Ions From the CERN Proton Synchrotron for CHARM / Fraser, Matthew (CERN) ; Arrutia Sota, Pablo Andreas (CERN) ; Biłko, Kacper (CERN) ; Charitonidis, Nikolaos (CERN) ; Danzeca, Salvatore (CERN) ; Delrieux, Marc (CERN) ; Duraffourg, Michel (CERN) ; Emriskova, Natalia (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi Salvatore (CERN) ; García Alía, Ruben (CERN) et al.
The CHARM High-energy Ions for Micro Electronics Reliability Assurance (CHIMERA) working group at CERN is investigating the feasibility of delivering high energy ion beams to the CHARM facility for the study of radiation effects to electronics components engineered to operate in harsh radiation environments, such as space or high-energy accelerators. The Proton Synchrotron has the potential of delivering the required high energy and high-Z (in this case, Pb) ions for radiation tests over the relevant range of Linear Energy Transfer of ~ 10 - 40 MeV cm²/mg with a > 1 mm penetration depth in silicon, specifically for single event effect tests. Matching Studies Between the CERN PSB and PS Using Turn-by-Turn Beam Profile Acquisitions with a Residual Beam Gas Ionisation Monitor / Fraser, Matthew (CERN) ; Coly, Marcel (CERN) ; Guerrero, Ana (CERN) ; Huschauer, Alexander (CERN) ; Jensen, Steen (CERN) ; Levasseur, Swann (CERN) ; Roncarolo, Federico (CERN) ; Rossi, Adriana (CERN) ; Sandberg, Hampus (CERN) ; Storey, James (CERN)
In the framework of the LHC Injectors Upgrade project, the Beam Gas Ionisation (BGI) profile monitors installed in the Proton Synchrotron (PS) were fitted with a gas injection system capable of boosting the signal rate high enough to capture single turn acquisitions immediately after injection. This contribution reports on the studies carried out during the beam commissioning of the BGI system in a turn-by-turn matching monitor mode for its eventual implementation in an optimisation framework to preserve emittance during transfer between the PS Booster and PS.
