Target systems design for a high intensity facility in the CERN's ECN3 area / Ximenes, R F (CERN) ; Grenard, J-L (CERN) ; Ruiz, J M Martin (CERN) ; Ahdida, C (CERN) ; Bernhard, J (CERN) ; Brugger, M (CERN) ; Calviani, M (CERN) ; Esposito, L (CERN) ; Fraser, M (CERN) ; Jacobsson, R (CERN) et al.
A new high intensity fixed target facility could be accommodated at CERN by fully exploiting the Super Proton Synchrotron. Multiple physics experiment proposals such as BDF/SHiP, NA62-BD, HIKE and SHADOWS are being considered. [...]

The experimental setup of BDF/SHiP proposed for ECN3 / Bick, Daniel (speaker) (Institut fur Experimentalphysik, Universität Hamburg)
The BDF/SHiP experiment has been proposed as a general purpose intensity-frontier experiment for the search of feebly interacting GeV-scale particles and to perform neutrino physics measurements at the CERN SPS. After the Technical Proposal in 2015 and a subsequent comprehensive design study, it has recently been optimized to operate in the existing SPS ECN3 underground facility, taking full advantage of the available 4x10^19 protons per year at 400 GeV.The experimental setup consists of two complementary detectors downstream an active muon shield. Investigating the feasibility of delivering higher intensity proton beams to ECN3 at the CERN SPS North Area / Fraser, M A (CERN) ; Brugger, M (CERN) ; Ahdida, C (CERN) ; Arduini, G (CERN) ; Arrutia Sota, P A (CERN) ; Bartosik, H (CERN) ; Bernhard, J (CERN) ; Calviani, M (CERN) ; Colinet, A (CERN) ; Esposito, L S (CERN) et al.
Initiated through the Physics Beyond Colliders (PBC) Study Group there is a strong interest from the scientific community to exploit the full intensity potential of the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) at CERN for Fixed Target physics experiments before the end of this decade. With the ECN3 cavern in the North Area (NA) identified as a suitable candidate location for a future high-intensity experimental facility compatible with a large variety of experiments, the new PBC ECN3 Beam Delivery Task Force was mandated to assess the feasibility of delivering a slow extracted beam of up to 4x10^19 protons per year at 400 GeV. Optics rematching between TT24 and P42 primary beam lines within the HI-ECN3 study project at CERN / Gorn, Aleksandr (CERN) ; Bracco, Chiara (CERN) ; Velotti, Francesco (CERN) ; Bernhard, Johannes (CERN) ; Nevay, Laurence (CERN) ; Dyks, Luke (Oxford U.) ; Fraser, Matthew (CERN)
The High Intensity ECN3 (HI-ECN3) study project aims to increase the intensity of the proton beam delivered to a new experimental facility housed in the ECN3 underground cavern in CERN’s North Area up to the ~4e+13 ppp (protons per pulse) and up to ~4e+19 POT (protons on target) per year. The increase necessitates upgrades of the primary beam transfer lines coming from SPS directly to the new Target Complex upstream of ECN3. [...]
