/ Xing, Q Z (Beijing U. of Tech.) ; Bai, Y J (Beijing U. of Tech.) ; Cai, J C (Beijing U. of Tech.) ; Guan, X (Beijing U. of Tech.) ; Wang, X W (Beijing U. of Tech.) ; Wei, J (Beijing U. of Tech.) ; Xiong, Z F (Beijing U. of Tech.) ; Zhang, H Y (Beijing U. of Tech.) ; Billen, J H (Los Alamos) ; Young, L M (Los Alamos) et al.
We present, in this paper, the physics and mechanical design of a Radio Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ) accelerator for the Compact Pulsed Hadron Source (CPHS) at Tsinghua University. The 3-meter-long RFQ will accelerate protons from 50 keV to 3 MeV at an RF frequency of 325 MHz. [...]

Research on Drift Tube Linac Model Cavity for CPHS
/ Zheng, S X (Beijing U. of Tech.) ; Guan, X (Beijing U. of Tech.) ; Wei, J (Beijing U. of Tech.) ; Zhang, H Y (Beijing U. of Tech.) ; Billen, J H (TechSource, Santa Fe) ; Young, L M (TechSource, Santa Fe) ; He, Y (NUCTECH, Beijing) ; Li, J (NUCTECH, Beijing) ; Zhang, D S (NUCTECH, Beijing) ; Li, J H (Beijing, Inst. Atomic Energy) et al.
The CPHS project in Tsinghua University plans to construct a 13 MeV linear accelerator to deliver a pulsed proton beam having an average beam current of 2.5 mA. A Drift Tube Linac (DTL), following a Radio Frequency Quadrupole accelerator(RFQ), will accelerate protons from 3 to 13MeV. [...]

Conceptual design of the ESS-SCANDINAVIA
/ Peggs, S (Brookhaven) ; Calaga, R (Brookhaven) ; Duperrier, R (Saclay) ; Stovall, J (CERN) ; Eshraqi, M (ESS, Lund) ; Plewinski, F (ESS, Lund) ; Lindroos, M (ESS, Lund ; CERN) ; Papotti, G (ESS, Lund ; CERN) ; Jansson, A (Fermilab)
The conceptual design of the European Spallation Source-Scandinavia (ESS-S) is presented. The accelerator system baseline draws heavily on state-of-the-art mature technologies that are being employed in the CERN Linac4 and SPL projects, although advances with spoke resonator and sputtered superconducting cavities are also being evaluated for reliable performance. Multipactor Simulations of the SPL Power Coupler
/ Burt, A (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Ambattu, P K (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Dexter, A C (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Calaga, R (Brookhaven) ; Montesinos, E (CERN) ; Author, F ; Author, G
Multipactor is a limiting factor in many RF power couplers. The SPL coupler is proposed to have a conical matching section between the window and the coaxial section however this section must be checked for multipactor. [...]

Beam Losses and Background Loads on Collider Detectors Due to Beam-Gas Interactions in the LHC
/ Drozhdin, A I (Fermilab) ; Mokhov, N V (Fermilab) ; Striganov, S I (Fermilab)
With a fully-operational high-efficient collimation system in the LHC, nuclear interactions of circulating protons with residual gas in the machine beam pipe can be a major sources of beam losses in the vicinity of the collider detectors, responsible for the machine-induced backgrounds. Realistic modeling of elastic and inelastic interactions of 7-TeV protons with nuclei in the vacuum chamber of the cold and warm sections of the LHC ring - with an appropriate pressure profile - is performed with the STRUCT and MARS15 codes.
