The transversely polarized target (PT) of the COMPASS (NA58) collaboration at CERN has been used for Drell–Yan measurements in 2015 and 2018. The transverse spin structure of the proton has been studied using a negative pion beam and a solid ammonia target. [...]

The transversely polarized solid proton target was used in 2015 and 2018 for the polarized Drell- Yan experiment at the first in the world with a 10$^8$ /s intensity of 190 GeV pion beam at COM- PASS. Because of the radiation damage, the deterioration of the proton relaxation time of NH$_3$ was observed over more than 6 months data taking period. [...]

Sivers asymmetry extracted in SIDIS at the hard scales of the Drell–Yan process at COMPASS
/ COMPASS Collaboration
Proton transverse-spin azimuthal asymmetries are extracted from the COMPASS 2010 semi-inclusive hadron measurements in deep inelastic muon-nucleon scattering in those four regions of the photon virtuality $Q^2$, which correspond to the four regions of the di-muon mass $\sqrt{Q^2}$ used in the ongoing analysis of the COMPASS Drell-Yan measurements. This allows for a future direct comparison of the nucleon transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution functions extracted from these two alternative measurements. [...]

Measurement of $P_T$-weighted Sivers asymmetries in leptoproduction of hadrons
/ COMPASS Collaboration
The transverse spin asymmetries measured in semi-inclusive leptoproduction of hadrons, when weighted with the hadron transverse momentum $P_T$, allow for the extraction of important transverse-momentum-dependent distribution functions. In particular, the weighted Sivers asymmetries provide direct information on the Sivers function, which is a leading-twist distribution that arises from a correlation between the transverse momentum of an unpolarised quark in a transversely polarised nucleon and the spin of the nucleon.
