Time correlations of high energy muons in an underground detector / Becherini, Y ; Cecchini, S ; Chiarusi, T ; Cozzi, M ; Dekhissi, H ; Derkaoui, J ; Esposito, L S ; Giacomelli, G ; Giglietto, N ; Giorgini, M et al.
We present the result of a search for correlations in the arrival times of high energy muons collected from 1995 till 2000 with the streamer tube system of the complete MACRO detector at the underground Gran Sasso Lab. Large samples of single muons (8.6 million), double muons (0.46 million) and multiple muons with multiplicities from 3 to 6 (0.08 million) were selected. [...]

Fluctuations and correlations : introduction and overview / Kittel, E W
Higher-order correlations have been observed as particle-density fluctuations. Approximate scaling with improving resolution provides evidence for a self-similar correlation effect. [...]

Study on the track reconstruction in L3+C experiment / Zhang Feng ; Chen He Sheng ; Lei, Yu ; Li, Li ; Ma Xin Hua ; Wang Rui Guang ; Yang Chang Gen
The reconstruction method of muon tracks in the L3 cosmic ray experiment has been studied. The affection caused by the nonuniformity of magnetic field, multiple scattering and other random processes have been investigated by the Geane package. [...]

Is the low-l microwave background cosmic? / Schwarz, Dominik J (CERN) ; Starkman, G D (Case Western Reserve University ; CERN) ; Copi, Craig J (Case Western Reserve Univ., Cleveland,) ; Huterer, Dragan (Case Western Reserve Univ., Cleveland)
The examination of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature anisotropies measured with the Wilkinson microwave anisotropy probe (WMAP) was discussed. It was found that the large-angle (low-l) correlations of the CMB exhibited several statistically significant anomalies compared to the standard inflationary cosmology [...]

Vital statistics / MacKenzie, Dana
The drawbacks of using 19th-century mathematics in physics and astronomy are illustrated. To continue with the expansion of the knowledge about the cosmos, the scientists will have to come in terms with modern statistics. [...]

The cosmic ray muon spectrum and charge ratio in CosmoALEPH / Zimmermann, D ; Grupen, C ; Kotaidis, V ; Luitz, S ; Mailov, A ; Müller, A S ; Putzer, A ; Rensch, B ; Sander, H G ; Schmeling, S et al.
The ALEPH experiment at the LEP e**+e**- storage ring at CERN has been used to measure the momentum spectrum of cosmic ray muons. ALEPH is located at a vertical depth of 320 m.w.e. [...]

Non-identical particle correlations in STAR / Erazmus, B ; Kisiel, A ; Renault, G ; Retière, F ; Szarwas, P
The correlation function of non-identical particles is sensitive to the relative space-time asymmetries in particle emission. Analysing pion kaon, pion-proton and kaon-proton correlation functions, measured in the Au+Au collisions by the STAR experiment at RHIC, we show that pions, kaons and protons are not emitted at the same average space-time coordinates. Hadron coolers at CERN / Beloshitsky, P F ; Bosser, Jacques ; Caspers, Friedhelm
Two kinds of cooling (electron and stochastic) are used in the Antiproton Decelerator for effective deceleration and ensuring the required parameters of the antiproton beam. In the near future the electron cooling will be used in the Low Energy Ion Ring for ion storage in the Large Hadron Collider Both cooling systems are described in the report. [...]
