Limit on right hand weak coupling parameters from inelastic neutrino interactions
/ Abramowicz, H ; Buchholz, P ; De Groot, J G H ; Dydak, F ; Eisele, F ; Flottmann, T ; Geweniger, C ; Guyot, C ; He, J T ; Klasen, H P et al.
Right handed weak quark current coupled to the usual left handed weak lepton current would be seen in inclusive antineutrino scattering on nuclei as a contribution at large y with the quark (not antiquark) structure function. The authors do not see such a term, and can therefore put an upper limit on the relative strengths of such right handed currents: rho /sup 2/= sigma /sub R// sigma /sub L/ <0.009, 90% confidence. Tests of QCD and non-asymptotically-free theories of the strong interaction by an analysis of the nucleon structure functions xF/sub 3 /, F/sub 2/, and q
/ Abramowicz, H ; De Groot, J G H ; Duda, J ; Dydak, F ; Eisele, F ; Flottmann, T ; Geweniger, C ; Guyot, C ; He, J T ; Klasen, H P et al.
The scaling violations of the structure functions F/sub 2/, xF/sub 3/, and q, as measured in deep-inelastic neutrino-nucleon scattering at high hadron class W, have been compared with the predictions of QCD and other candidate field theories of strong interactions. Non- asymptotically free theories with scalar and vector gluons are incompatible with the data. [...]

New results on inclusive nu Fe charged current interactions
/ Abramowicz, H ; Becker, I ; De Groot, J G H ; Dydak, F ; Eisele, F ; Flottmann, T ; Geweniger, C ; Guyot, C ; He, J T ; Klasen, H et al.
Based on 60000(25000) nu ( nu ) events obtained recently in the CERN 200 GeV narrow band neutrino beam, the authors present new results on the nucleon structure functions F/sub 2/(x, Q/sup 2/) and xF/sub 3/(x, Q/sup 2/) and on the Callan Gross relation. The observed scaling violations of F/sub 2/ and xF/sub 3/ are interpreted in terms of QCD. [...]

Performance of a magnetized total absorption calorimeter between 15 GeV and 140 GeV
/ Holder, M (CERN) ; Bloch, P (Saclay) ; Devaux, B (Saclay) ; Dorth, W (Heidelberg U.) ; Dydak, F (Heidelberg U.) ; Eisele, F (Dortmund U.) ; Flottmann, T (Heidelberg U.) ; Geweniger, C (Dortmund U.) ; Grimm, M (Saclay) ; Hepp, V (Heidelberg U.) et al.
The authors have calibrated a magnetized iron-scintillator sandwich calorimeter in a hadron beam, finding an energy resolution equal to 16% fwhm at 140 GeV with 4 cm sampling. The hadron energy resolution (fwhm/mean) improves as E/sup -1/2/ between 15 and 140 GeV. [...]

Opposite sign dimuon events produced in narrow band neutrino and antineutrino beams
/ Holder, M (CERN) ; Bloch, P (Saclay) ; Devaux, B (Saclay) ; Dorth, W (Heidelberg U.) ; Dydak, F (Heidelberg U.) ; Eisele, F (Dortmund U.) ; Geweniger, C (Dortmund U.) ; Grimm, M (Saclay) ; Hepp, V (Heidelberg U.) ; Kleinknecht, K (Dortmund U.) et al.
On the basis of 315 dimuon events of opposite sign for which the nature (and energy) of the incident neutrino is known, and the momenta and hadronic energy are measured, the authors find a) very similar production by neutrinos and antineutrinos, and therefore confirmation of the GIM model for semileptonic weak interactions, b) energy spectra, excitation functions, angular correlations and transverse momentum distributions which are in remarkable agreement with the hypothesis of charm production and decay, c) evidence against models for which the second muon has a heavy lepton as origin, d) evidence against 'bottom' quark production by antineutrinos, e) the amount and the structure function for the strange quark-antiquark sea, and f) an approximate branching ratio, of 0.15 for the muonic decay of the semistable charmed meson..

Like-sign dimuon events produced in narrow-band neutrino and antineutrino beams
/ Holder, M ; Bloch, P ; Devaux, B ; Dorth, W ; Dydak, F ; Eisele, F ; Geweniger, C ; Grimm, M ; Hepp, V ; Kleinknecht, K et al.
Forty-seven events of the type nu +Fe to mu /sup -/+ mu /sup -/+X and nine events of the type nu +Fe to mu /sup +/+ mu /sup +/+X have been observed, and zero events with like-sign muons of the opposite sign. Most of the observed events can be attributed to the background of normal charged current events, in which one of the pions or kaons of the hadron shower decays, and so produces a second muon. [...]

Measurement of the neutral to charged current cross section ratio in neutrino and antineutrino interactions
/ Holder, M (CERN) ; Berthelot, A (Saclay) ; Bloch, p (Saclay) ; Devaux, B (Saclay) ; Dorth, W (Heidelberg U.) ; Dydak, F (Heidelberg U.) ; Eisele, F (Dortmund U.) ; Geweniger, C (Dortmund U.) ; Grimm, M (Saclay) ; Hepp, V (Heidelberg U.) et al.
The authors report on the analysis of inclusive neutral current events produced in neutrino and antineutrino narrow band beams. One finds for incident neutrino energies in the range 12-200 GeV and for hadron energies above 12 GeV a neutral charged current cross-section ratio of R/sub nu /=0.293+or-0.010 for incident neutrinos, and R/sub anti nu /=0.35+or-0.03 for antineutrinos.
