Measuring beam size with the LHC Beam Gas Vertex detector / Würkner, Benedikt (CERN) ; Alexopoulos, Andreas (CERN) ; Barschel, Colin (CERN) ; Bay, Aurelio (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Blanc, Frederic (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Bravin, Enrico (CERN) ; Bregliozzi, Giuseppe (CERN) ; Chritin, Nicolas (CERN) ; Dehning, Bernd (CERN) ; Ferro-Luzzi, Massimiliano (CERN) et al.
The Beam Gas Vertex detector (BGV) is an innovative beam profile monitor being developed as part of the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) project at CERN. The goal is to continually measure the transverse beam size by reconstructing tracks originating from beam-gas interactions using high precision tracking detectors. [...]

The Beam Gas Vertex (BGV) monitor is being developed as part of the High Luminosity LHC project with the aim of providing measurements with less than 5% error on the beam size with an integration time of 5 minutes. It will be the only instrument capable of non-invasive beam size measurement throughout the LHC acceleration cycle with high intensity physics beams. [...]

Measurement of the ratio of branching fractions of the decays $\Lambda_b^0 \!\to \psi(2S) \Lambda$ and $\Lambda_b^0 \!\to J\!/\!\psi \Lambda$ / LHCb Collaboration
Using $pp$ collisions corresponding to 3$\,\text{fb}^{-1}$ integrated luminosity, recorded by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8$\,\text{TeV}$, the ratio of branching fractions \begin{align*} \mathcal{B}(\Lambda^0_b\!\to\psi(2S) \Lambda )/\mathcal{B}(\Lambda^0_b\!\to J/\psi \Lambda)= 0.513 \pm 0.023\, (\text{stat}) \pm 0.016 \, (\text{syst}) \pm 0.011\, (\mathcal{B}) \end{align*} is determined. The first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the external branching fractions used..

Search for CP violation using triple product asymmetries in $\Lambda^{0}_{b}\to pK^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$, $\Lambda^{0}_{b}\to pK^{-}K^{+}K^{-}$ and $\Xi^{0}_{b}\to pK^{-}K^{-}\pi^{+}$ decays / LHCb Collaboration
A search for $C$P and $P$ violation using triple-product asymmetries is performed with $\Lambda^{0}_{b}\to pK^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$, $\Lambda^{0}_{b}\to pK^{-}K^{+}K^{-}$ and $\Xi^{0}_{b}\to pK^{-}K^{-}\pi^{+}$ decays. The data sample corresponds to integrated luminosities of 1.0fb$^{-1}$ and 2.0fb$^{-1}$, recorded with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7TeV and 8TeV, respectively. [...]

Search for $B_c^+$ decays to two charm mesons / LHCb Collaboration
A search for decays of $B_c^+$ mesons to two charm mesons is performed for the first time using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb$^{-1}$, collected by the LHCb experiment in $pp$ collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The decays considered are $B_c^+\to D^{(*)+}_{(s)} \overline{D}^{(*)0}$ and $B_c^+\to D^{(*)+}_{(s)} D^{(*)0}$, which are normalised to high-yield $B^+\to D^+_{(s)} \overline{D}^0$ decays. [...]

Measurement of forward top pair production in the dilepton channel in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV / LHCb Collaboration
Forward top quark pair production is studied in $pp$ collisions in the $\mu eb$ final state using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.93 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The cross-section is measured in a fiducial region where both leptons have a transverse momentum greater than 20 GeV and a pseudorapidity between 2.0 and 4.5. [...]

An excess of events is observed with respect to the background expectation, with a signal significance of 4.1 standard deviations. [...]

Studies of the resonance structure in $D^{0} \to K^\mp \pi^\pm \pi^\pm \pi^\mp$ decays / LHCb Collaboration
Amplitude models are constructed to describe the resonance structure of ${D^{0}\to K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}}$ and ${D^{0} \to K^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}}$ decays using $pp$ collision data collected at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3.0\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. The largest contributions to both decay amplitudes are found to come from axial resonances, with decay modes $D^{0} \to a_1(1260)^{+} K^{-}$ and $D^{0} \to K_1(1270/1400)^{+} \pi^{-}$ being prominent in ${D^{0}\to K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}}$ and $D^{0}\to K^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}$, respectively.
