Detection of Early-Universe Gravitational Wave Signatures and Fundamental Physics / Caldwell, Robert (Dartmouth Coll.) ; Cui, Yanou (UC, Riverside) ; Guo, Huai-Ke (U. Utah, Salt Lake City) ; Mandic, Vuk (Minnesota U.) ; Mariotti, Alberto (Brussels U., IIHE) ; No, Jose Miguel (Madrid, IFT) ; Ramsey-Musolf, Michael J. Detection of a gravitational-wave signal of non-astrophysical origin would be a landmark discovery, potentially providing a significant clue to some of our most basic, big-picture scientific questions about the Universe. In this white paper, we survey the leading early-Universe mechanisms that may produce a detectable signal -- including inflation, phase transitions, topological defects, as well as primordial black holes -- and highlight the connections to fundamental physics. The Forward Physics Facility at the High-Luminosity LHC / Feng, Jonathan L. (UC, Irvine) ; Kling, Felix (DESY) ; Reno, Mary Hall (Iowa U.) ; Rojo, Juan (NIKHEF, Amsterdam ; Vrije U., Amsterdam) ; Soldin, Dennis (Delaware U.) ; Anchordoqui, Luis A. (Lehman Coll.) ; Boyd, Jamie (CERN) ; Ismail, Ahmed (Oklahoma State U.) ; Harland-Lang, Lucian (Oxford U. ; Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Kelly, Kevin J. (CERN) et al.
High energy collisions at the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (LHC) produce a large number of particles along the beam collision axis, outside of the acceptance of existing LHC experiments. The proposed Forward Physics Facility (FPF), to be located several hundred meters from the ATLAS interaction point and shielded by concrete and rock, will host a suite of experiments to probe Standard Model (SM) processes and search for physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM) [...]

Dark radiation constraints on light primordial black holes / Auffinger, Jérémy (IP2I, Lyon) ; Arbey, Alexandre (IP2I, Lyon ; CERN ; IUF, Paris) ; Sandick, Pearl (Utah U.) ; Haghi, Barmak Shams Es (Utah U.) ; Sinha, Kuver (Oklahoma U.)
Light black holes could have formed in the very early universe through the collapse of large primordial density fluctuations. These primordial black holes (PBHs), if light enough, would have evaporated by now because of the emission of Hawking radiation; thus they could not represent a sizable fraction of dark matter today. [...]

Probing axionlike particles with $\gamma\gamma$ final states from vector boson fusion processes at the LHC / Flórez, Andrés (Andes U., Bogota) ; Gurrola, Alfredo (Vanderbilt U.) ; Johns, Will (Vanderbilt U.) ; Sheldon, Paul (Vanderbilt U.) ; Sheridan, Elijah (Vanderbilt U.) ; Sinha, Kuver (Oklahoma U.) ; Soubasis, Brandon (Vanderbilt U.)
We perform a feasibility study to search for axion-like particles (ALPs) using vector boson fusion (VBF) processes at the LHC. We work in an effective field theory framework with cutoff scale $\Lambda$ and ALP mass $m_{a}$, and assume that ALPs couple to photons with strength $\propto 1/\Lambda$. [...]

Precision calculation of dark radiation from spinning primordial black holes and early matter-dominated eras / Arbey, Alexandre (IP2I, Lyon ; CERN ; IUF, Paris) ; Auffinger, Jérémy (IP2I, Lyon) ; Sandick, Pearl (Utah U.) ; Shams Es Haghi, Barmak (Utah U.) ; Sinha, Kuver (Oklahoma U.)
We present precision calculations of dark radiation in the form of gravitons coming from Hawking evaporation of spinning primordial black holes (PBHs) in the early Universe. Our calculation incorporates a careful treatment of extended spin distributions of a population of PBHs, the PBH reheating temperature, and the number of relativistic degrees of freedom. [...]

Interpreting the CMS $\ell^+\ell^- jj E\!\!\!\!/_{\rm T}$ Excess with a Leptoquark Model / Allanach, Ben ; Alves, Alexandre ; Queiroz, Farinaldo S ; Sinha, Kuver ; Strumia, Alessandro
Motivated by excesses in $ee jj$ and $e\nu jj$ channels observed by the CMS collaboration, in 8 TeV LHC data, a model of lepto-quarks with mass around 500 GeV was proposed in the literature. In order to reproduce the claimed event rate, lepto-quarks were assumed to have a significant partial branching ratio into an extra sector, taken to be Dark Matter, other than the canonical $ej$. [...]
