Benchmarking power deposition from fast losses of heavy-ion beams at the onset of LHC Run 3 / Rodin, Volodymyr (CERN) ; Lechner, Anton (CERN) ; Salvachua, Belen (CERN) ; Mirarchi, Daniele (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi Salvatore (CERN) ; D'Andrea, Marco (CERN) ; Schoofs, Philippe (CERN) ; Bruce, Roderik (CERN) ; Cai, Rongrong (CERN) ; Morales Vigo, Sara (CERN) et al.
In 2023, the LHC started its Run 3 operation with $^{208}\text{PB}^{82+}$ beams at 6.8 ZTeV, with a substantially higher number of bunches compared to past runs. Several new hardware systems were used operationally for the first time with high-intensity beams, including bent crystal collimators in the betatron cleaning insertion. [...]

Updated analysis of beam halo measurements in LHC Run 2 and Run 3 / Rakic, Milica (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne ; CERN) ; Salvachua, Belen (CERN) ; Montanari, Carlo Emilio (Manchester U. ; CERN) ; Mirarchi, Daniele (CERN) ; Paraschou, Konstantinos (CERN) ; Giovannozzi, Massimo (CERN) ; Hermes, Pascal (CERN) ; Morales Vigo, Sara (CERN) ; Redaelli, Stefano (CERN)
Measurements of the transverse beam halo in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) provide crucial input for the performance evaluation of the collimation configuration in the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) era. Such measurements are carried out in various phases of the LHC operational cycle by scraping the beam with movable collimators. [...]

Correlating start-of-ramp losses with beam observables at blat-bottom in the LHC / Karlsen-Bæck, Birk Emil (CERN ; Rome U.) ; Salvachua, Belen (CERN) ; Timko, Helga (CERN) ; Zampetakis, Michail (CERN) ; Morales Vigo, Sara (CERN)
Power limitations are expected at injection energy for the main Radio Frequency (RF) system due to the doubled bunch intensity in the High Luminosity (HL-) Large Hadron Collider (LHC) era. One way to overcome these power limitations is to reduce the capture voltage. [...]

Collimator Scan Based Beam Halo Measurements in LHC and HL-LHC / Hermes, Pascal (CERN) ; Giovannozzi, Massimo (CERN) ; Montanari, Carlo Emilio (CERN ; U. Manchester (main)) ; Morales Vigo, Sara (CERN ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Rakic, Milica (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Redaelli, Stefano (CERN) ; Salvachúa, Belen (CERN)
Measurements in the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) have indicated that the population of the transverse beam halo is greater than that of a Gaussian distribution. With the upcoming High Luminosity upgrade (HL-LHC), the stored beam energy in the beam halo could become large enough to threaten the integrity of the collimation system. [...]

Calibration of the LHC Diamond beam loss monitors for LHC Run 3 / Morales Vigo, Sara (CERN ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Salvachua, Belen (CERN) ; Welsch, Carsten (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Zamantzas, Christos (CERN) ; Calvo Giraldo, Eva (CERN) ; Martinez Samblas, Javier (CERN) ; Wolfenden, Joseph (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Gonzalez-Berges, Manuel (CERN)
A set of twelve Polycrystalline Chemical Vapour Deposition (pCVD) diamond detectors are installed in the beam injection, extraction and betatron collimation areas of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) as fast beam loss monitoring detectors. Their high-radiation tolerance and time resolution in the order of a few ns makes them an ideal candidate to monitor bunch-by-bunch losses in the LHC beams, which have a nominal bunch separation of 25 ns. The Diamond Beam Loss Monitoring System at CERN LHC and SPS / Calvo Giraldo, Eva (CERN) ; Effinger, Ewald (CERN) ; Gonzalez Berges, Manuel (CERN) ; Kral, Jiri (Prague, Tech. U.) ; Martínez Samblas, Javier (CERN) ; Morales Vigo, Sara (CERN) ; Salvachúa, Belen (CERN) ; Zamantzas, Christos (CERN)
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) accelerators are equipped with 17 pCVD diamond based Beam Loss detectors at strategical locations where their nanosecond resolution can provide insights into the loss mechanisms and complement the information of the standard ionization chamber type detectors. They are used at the injection and extraction lines of the LHC and SPS, to analyse the injection or extraction efficiency, and to verify the timing alignment of other elements like kicker magnets. Testing the Properties of Beam-Dose Monitors for VHEE-FLASH Radiation Therapy / Bateman, Joseph (JAI, UK) ; Burrows, Philip (JAI, UK) ; Corsini, Roberto (CERN) ; Dosanjh, Manjit (CERN) ; Dyks, Luke (JAI, UK) ; Farabolini, Wilfrid (CERN) ; Gerbershagen, Alexander (CERN) ; Heracleous, Natalie (CERN) ; Korysko, Pierre (CERN) ; Morales Vigo, Sara (CERN) et al.
Very High Energy Electrons (VHEE) of 50 - 250 MeV are an attractive choice for FLASH radiation therapy (RT). Before VHEE-FLASH RT can be considered for clinical use, a reliable dosimetric and beam monitoring system needs to be developed, able to measure the dose delivered to the patient in real-time and cut off the beam in the event of a machine fault to prevent overdosing the patient.
