Radiation-induced effects in glass windows for optical readout GEM-based detectors / Oliveira, A. Maia (CERN ; Bern U., LHEP) ; Braccini, S. (Bern U., LHEP) ; Casolaro, P. (Bern U., LHEP) ; Heracleous, N. (CERN) ; Leidner, J. (CERN) ; Mateu, I. (Bern U., LHEP) ; Murtas, F. (CERN ; Frascati) ; Silari, M. (CERN)
In this paper we present irradiation measurements performed to select a transparent anode substrate that best meets the requirements of an optical readout for a novel detector, the LaGEMPix. The modification of the optical properties of the material due to proton irradiation were studied in soda-lime, fused quartz and fused silica glasses coated with an Indium Tin Oxide layer. [...]

A Beam Profile Monitor for High Energy Proton Beams Using Microfabrication Techniques / Mateu, Isidre (CERN) ; Bouvet, Didier (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Farabolini, Wilfrid (CERN) ; Gilardi, Antonio (CERN) ; Gkotse, Blerina (CERN) ; Mapelli, Alessandro (CERN) ; Meskova, Viktoria (CERN) ; Pezzullo, Giuseppe (CERN) ; Ravotti, Federico (CERN) ; Sallese, Jean-Michel (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) et al.
In High Energy Physics experiments it is a common practice to expose electronic components and systems to particle beams, in order to assess their level of radiation tolerance when operating in a radiation environment. One of the facilities used for such tests is the Proton Irradiation Facility (IRRAD) at CERN. [...]

The IRRAD Proton Irradiation Facility Control, Data Management and Beam Diagnostic Systems: An Outlook of the Major Upgrades Beyond the CERN Long Shutdown 2 / Ravotti, Federico (CERN) ; Gkotse, Blerina (CERN ; Paris, Ecole des Mines) ; Glaser, Maurice (CERN) ; Jouvelot, Pierre (Paris, Ecole des Mines) ; Mateu, Isidre (CERN) ; Meskova, Viktoria (CERN) ; Pezzullo, Giuseppe (CERN) ; Sallese, Jean-Michel (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne)
The IRRAD proton irradiation facility at CERN was built during the Long Shutdown 1 (LS1) to address the irradiation experiment needs of the community working for the High-Luminosity (HL) upgrade of the LHC. The present IRRAD is an upgrade of a historical service at CERN that, since the 90’s, exploits the high-intensity 24 GeV/c PS proton beam for radiation-hardness studies of detector, accelerator and semiconductor components and materials. [...]

SEE Tests With Ultra Energetic Xe Ion Beam in the CHARM Facility at CERN / Fernández-Martínez, Pablo (CERN) ; García Alía, Rubén (CERN) ; Cecchetto, Matteo (CERN) ; Kastriotou, Maria (CERN) ; Kerboub, Nourdine (CERN) ; Tali, Maris (CERN) ; Wyrwoll, Vanessa (CERN) ; Brugger, Markus (CERN) ; Cangialosi, Chiara (CERN) ; Cerutti, Francesco (CERN) et al.
Taking advantage of the heavy ion acceleration program, tests on radiation effects with Ultrahigh Energy (UHE) xenon ion beams (with Energy > 5 GeV/nucleon) have been performed in several experimental areas of the CERN accelerator complex. Specifically, the outcomes of the first UHE heavy ion test campaign carried out at the CHARM facility are presented and discussed in this contribution. [...]

Multiplication onset and electric field properties of proton irradiated LGADs / Ugobono, Sofia Otero (U. This work focuses on the study of a set of Low Gain Avalanche Detectors (LGADs) produced by CNM, Barcelona (run 7859). Several samples were irradiated with 24-GeV/c protons up to different fluences, ranging between 10$^{12}$ and 10$^{15}$ n$_\textrm{eq}$/cm$^2$. [...]

The effort to characterise detector sensors and components for the High Luminosity upgrade of the CERN Large Hadron Collider requires collaboration between irradiation facilities around the world. By convention, the radiation damage following irradiation with particle beams is reported as the 1 MeV neutron equivalent fluence, obtained using the corresponding hardness factor. [...]

Radiation damage in p-type EPI silicon pad diodes irradiated with protons and neutrons / Gurimskaya, Yana (CERN) ; Dias De Almeida, Pedro (CERN ; Cantabria U., Santander) ; Fernandez Garcia, Marcos (Cantabria U., Santander) ; Mateu Suau, Isidre (CERN) ; Moll, Michael (CERN) ; Fretwurst, Eckhart (Hamburg U.) ; Makarenko, Leonid (Belarus State U.) ; Pintilie, Ioana (Bucharest, Nat. Inst. Mat. Sci.)
In view of the HL-LHC upgrade, radiation-tolerant silicon sensors containing low-resistivity p-type implants or substrates, like LGAD or HV-CMOS devices, are being developed in the framework of ATLAS, CMS, RD50 and other sensor R&D; projects. These devices are facing a particular problem — the apparent deactivation of the doping due to the irradiation, the so-called acceptor removal effect. [...]
