Evaluation of HPK $n^+$-$p$ planar pixel sensors for the CMS Phase-2 upgrade / Tracker Group of the CMS Collaboration
To cope with the challenging environment of the planned high luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC), scheduled to start operation in 2029, CMS will replace its entire tracking system. The requirements for the tracker are largely determined by the long operation time of 10~years with an instantaneous peak luminosity of up to $7.5\times 10^{34}$~cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$ in the ultimate performance scenario. Depending on the radial distance from the interaction point, the silicon sensors will receive a particle fluence corresponding to a non-ionizing energy loss of up to $\Phi_{\text{eq}} = 3.5\times 10^{16}$~cm$^{-2}$. New UTfit Analysis of the Unitarity Triangle in the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa scheme / UTfit Collaboration
Flavour mixing and CP violation as measured in weak decays and mixing of neutral mesons are a fundamental tool to test the Standard Model (SM) and to search for new physics. New analyses performed at the LHC experiment open an unprecedented insight into the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) metrology and new evidence for rare decays. [...]

Global analysis of electroweak data in the Standard Model / de Blas, J. (CAFPE, Granada ; Granada U.) ; Ciuchini, M. (INFN, Rome3) ; Franco, E. (INFN, Rome) ; Goncalves, A. (Florida State U.) ; Mishima, S. (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Pierini, M. (CERN) ; Reina, L. (Florida State U.) ; Silvestrini, L. (INFN, Rome)
We perform a global fit of electroweak data within the Standard Model, using state-of-the art experimental and theoretical results, including a determination of the electromagnetic coupling at the electroweak scale based on recent lattice calculations. In addition to the posteriors for all parameters and observables obtained from the global fit, we present indirect determinations for all parameters and predictions for all observables. [...]

Search for millicharged particles in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV / Ball, A. (CERN) ; Beauregard, G. (New York U. (main)) ; Brooke, J. (U. Bristol (main)) ; Campagnari, C. We report on a search for elementary particles with charges much smaller than the electron charge (e) using a data sample of proton-proton collisions provided by the CERN Large Hadron Collider in 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 37.5/fb at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. A prototype scintillator-based detector is deployed to conduct the first search at a hadron collider sensitive to particles with charges ≤ 0.1e. [...]

$\texttt{HEPfit}$ is a flexible open-source tool which, given the Standard Model or any of its extensions, allows to $\textit{i)}$ fit the model parameters to a given set of experimental observables; $\textit{ii)}$ obtain predictions for observables. $\texttt{HEPfit}$ can be used either in Monte Carlo mode, to perform a Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo analysis of a given model, or as a library, to obtain predictions of observables for a given point in the parameter space of the model, allowing $\texttt{HEPfit}$ to be used in any statistical framework. On hadronic uncertainties polluting the New Physics hunt in $b \rightarrow s$ transitions / Ciuchini, Marco (INFN, Rome3) ; Coutinho, Antonio M (INFN, Rome3 ; Rome III U.) ; Fedele, Marco (Orsay, LPT) ; Franco, Enrico (INFN, Rome) ; Paul, Ayan (DESY ; Humboldt U., Berlin) ; Silvestrini, Luca (INFN, Rome ; CERN) ; Valli, Mauro (UC, Irvine)
We review the hadronic uncertainties involved in the decay $B \rightarrow K^* \ell^+ \ell^-$, arguing that the non-factorizable hadronic contribution might account for some of the anomalies observed in $b \rightarrow s$ transitions, namely the ones relating to the $P^′_5$ observable. Moreover, we explore how alternative Beyond Standard Model interpretations of the anomalies pattern, e.g. [...]

New Physics in $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ confronts new data on Lepton Universality / Ciuchini, Marco (INFN, Rome3) ; Coutinho, António M. In light of the very recent updates on the $R_K$ and $R_{K^*}$ measurements from the LHCb and Belle collaborations, we systematically explore here imprints of New Physics in $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^- $ transitions using the language of effective field theories. We focus on effects that violate Lepton Flavour Universality both in the Weak Effective Theory and in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory. [...]

The successful operation of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the excellent performance of the ATLAS, CMS, LHCb and ALICE detectors in Run-1 and Run-2 with $pp$ collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV as well as the giant leap in precision calculations and modeling of fundamental interactions at hadron colliders have allowed an extraordinary breadth of physics studies including precision measurements of a variety physics processes. The LHC results have so far confirmed the validity of the Standard Model of particle physics up to unprecedented energy scales and with great precision in the sectors of strong and electroweak interactions as well as flavour physics, for instance in top quark physics.
