New developments of pixel detectors based on GaAs sensors offer effective registration of the transition radiation (TR) X-rays and perform simultaneous measurements of their energies and emission angles. This unique feature opens new possibilities for particle identification on the basis of maximum available information about generated TR photons. [...]

(INFN Trieste, University of Trieste) ; Crespo, M. (INFN Trieste, Abdus Salam ICTP) ; Dalla Torre, S. (INFN Trieste) et al.
The novel MPGD-based photon detectors of COMPASS RICH-1 consist of large-size hybrid MPGDs with multi-layer architecture including two layers of Thick-GEMs and a bulk resistive MicroMegas. The top surface of the first THGEM is coated with a CsI film which also acts as photo-cathode. [...]

Error handling for the CDF online silicon vertex tracker
/ Bari, M ; Belforte, S ; Cerri, A ; Dell'Orso, Mauro ; Donati, S ; Galeotti, S ; Giannetti, P ; Morsani, F ; Punzi, G ; Ristori, L et al.
The online silicon vertex tracker (SVT) is composed of 104 VME 9U digital boards (of eight different types). Since the data output from the SVT (few MB/s) are a small fraction of the input data (200 MB/s), it is extremely difficult to track possible internal errors by using only the output stream. [...]

/ Alvsvaag, S J ; Bari, M D ; Barreira, G ; Benvenuti, Alberto C ; Bigi, M ; Bonesini, M ; Bozzo, M ; Camporesi, T ; Carling, H ; Cassio, V et al.
The small angle tile calorimeter (STIC) provides calorimetric coverage in the very forward region of the DELPHI experiment at the CERN LEP collider. The structure of the calorimeters, built with so- called "shashlik" technique, $9 allows the insertion of tracking detectors within the sampling structure, in order to make it possible to determine the direction of the showering particle. The small angle tile calorimeter in the DELPHI experiment
/ DELPHI STIC Collaboration
The {\bf S}mall angle {\bf TI}le {\bf C}alorimeter ({\bf STIC}) provides calorimetric coverage in the very forward region of the DELPHI experiment at the CERN LEP collider. The structure of the calorimeters, built with a so-called ``shashlik'' technique, gives a perfectly hermetic calorimeter and still allows for the insertion of tracking detectors within the sampling structure to measure the direction of the showering particle.
