Study of exclusive two-body W decays with fully reconstructible kinematics / Bagdatova, Alsu G. (Lebedev Inst.) ; Baranov, Sergey P. (Lebedev Inst.) ; Sakharov, Alexander S. (Manhattan Coll., Riverdale ; CERN)
In the framework of electroweak theory and perturbative quantum chromodynamics, we examine various exclusive decay channels of $W$ bosons that can be fully or partially reconstructed. Our findings provide predictions for the partial widths and address some gaps in previous literature. [...]

$\chi_{c1}$ and $\chi_{c2}$ polarization as a probe of color octet channel / Baranov, S.P. (Lebedev Inst.) ; Lipatov, A.V. (SINP, Moscow ; Dubna, JINR)
We analyze the first LHC data on $\chi_{c1}$ and $\chi_{c2}$ polarization obtained very recently by the CMS Collaboration at $\sqrt s = 8$~TeV. We describe the perturbative production of $c\bar c$ pair with $k_T$-factorization approach and use nonrelativistic QCD formalism for the formation of bound states. [...]

A measurement of $\Lambda$ polarization in inclusive production by $\Sigma^-$ of 340-GeV/c in C and Cu targets / Adamovich, M I (LPI, Moscow (main)) ; Alexandrov, Yu A (LPI, Moscow (main)) ; Baranov, S P (LPI, Moscow (main)) ; Barberis, D (Genoa U. ; INFN, Genoa) ; Beck, M (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; ́erat, C B (Grenoble, CEN) ; Beusch, W (CERN) ; Boss, M (Heidelberg U.) ; Brons, S (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Brückner, W (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) et al. /WA89
We have measured the polarization of $\Lambda$ hyperons produced inclusively by a $\Sigma^-$ beam of 340 GeV/c momentum in nuclear targets. From a sample of 9.5 millions of identified $\Lambda$ decays, polarizations were determined in the range $x_F \gt 0.1$ and $p_t\leq 1.6$ GeV/c . [...]

Associated production of electroweak bosons and $D/B$ heavy mesons at LHCb and prospects to observe double parton interactions / Baranov, Sergey (Lebedev Inst.) ; Lipatov, Artem (SINP, Moscow) ; Malyshev, Maxim Alexeevich (SINP, Moscow ; Dubna, JINR) ; Snigirev, Alexander (SINP, Moscow) ; Zotov, Nikolay Petrovich (SINP, Moscow)
We study the production of weak gauge bosons in association w ith heavy flavored mesons at the LHCb conditions in both single (SPS) and double (DPS) parton scattering mechanisms. We find that the usual DPS factorization formula needs to be correct ed for the limited partonic phase space, and that including the relevant corrections reduces discre pancies in the associated ZD production. Muon Detector-Description as-built and its Simulation for the ATLAS Experiment / Rebuzzi, D ; Benekos, N Ch ; Baranov, S ; Chevalier, L ; Goldfarb, S ; Laporte, J -F ; Moore, T ; Ouraou, A ; Pomarede, D ; Schott, M et al.
Abstract: The ATLAS detector at CERN is designed to fully exploit the physics potential of the LHC by providing precision measurements of the mass and identification of particles emerging from high-energy proton-proton collisions. The ATLAS Muon Spectrometer is a large and complex system, comprising Monitored Drift Tubes (MDT), Cathode Strip Chambers (CSC), Resistive Plate Chambers (RPC), and Thin Gap Chambers (TGC). [...]

The ATLAS detector is designed to exploit the full potential of the LHC, identifying and providing highly accurate energy and momentum measurements of particles emerging from the LHC proton–proton collisions. High-momentum final-state muons are among the most promising signatures at the LHC, thanks to a high-resolution Muon Spectrometer with standalone triggering and momentum measurement. [...]

Search for Higgs bosons decaying to $aa$ in the $\mu\mu\tau\tau$ final state in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = $ 8 TeV with the ATLAS experiment / ATLAS Collaboration
A search for the decay to a pair of new particles of either the 125 GeV Higgs boson ($h$) or a second CP-even Higgs boson ($H$) is presented. The dataset correspods to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=$ 8 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in 2012. [...]

Measurements of the Total and Differential Higgs Boson Production Cross Sections Combining the $H \rightarrow \gamma \gamma$ and $H \rightarrow ZZ ^{*}\rightarrow 4\ell$ Decay Channels at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV with the ATLAS Detector / ATLAS Collaboration
Measurements of the total and differential cross sections of Higgs boson production are performed using 20.3~fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collisions produced by the Large Hadron Collider at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 8$ TeV and recorded by the ATLAS detector. Cross sections are obtained from measured $H \rightarrow \gamma \gamma$ and $H \rightarrow ZZ ^{*}\rightarrow 4\ell$ event yields, which are combined accounting for detector efficiencies, fiducial acceptances and branching fractions. Search for high-mass diphoton resonances in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
This article describes a search for high-mass resonances decaying to a pair of photons using a sample of $20.3$ fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The data are found to be in agreement with the Standard Model prediction, and limits are reported in the framework of the Randall-Sundrum model. [...]

Search for massive, long-lived particles using multitrack displaced vertices or displaced lepton pairs in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
Many extensions of the Standard Model posit the existence of heavy particles with long lifetimes. This article presents the results of a search for events containing at least one long-lived particle that decays at a significant distance from its production point into two leptons or into five or more charged particles.
