Hardware Commissioning of the HL-LHC Inner Triplet String Facility at CERN: Individual System and Short Circuit Tests / Yammine, Samer (CERN) ; Antoine, Alain (CERN) ; Onufrena, Aleksandra (CERN) ; Perin, Antonio (CERN) ; Panev, Bozhidar Ivanov (CERN) ; Bozzini, Davide (CERN) ; Coulot, Emilien (CERN) ; Thiesen, Hugues (CERN) ; Zerlauth, Markus (CERN) ; Bajko, Marta (CERN) et al.
The goal of the High Luminosity-Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) Inner Triplet (IT) String test, is to validate the assembly and connection procedures and tools required for its construction, to assess the collective behavior of the superconducting magnet chain in conditions as close as possible to those of their operation in the HL-LHC and to provide a training opportunity for the equipment teams for their work in the LHC tunnel. The IT String includes the systems required for operation at nominal conditions, such as the cryogenics, powering and quench protection systems. [...]

Experimental Program of the HL-LHC Inner Triplet String Test at CERN / Yammine, S (CERN) ; Bajko, M (CERN) ; Ballarino, A (CERN) ; Bednarek, M J (CERN) ; Bozzini, D (CERN) ; Blanchard, S (CERN) ; Brüning, O (CERN) ; Cruikshank, P (CERN) ; Denz, R (CERN) ; Ramos, D Duarte (CERN) et al.
This contribution describes the experimental program already undergoing and to be completed on the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) Inner Triplet (IT) String, an important intermediate milestone of the HL-LHC project at CERN. First, it describes the magnet circuits of the HL-LHC IT String. [...]

HL-LHC IT STRING: Status and Perspectives / Bajko, M (CERN) ; Baglin, V (CERN) ; Ballarino, A (CERN) ; Bednarek, M J (CERN) ; Bertolasi, S (CERN) ; Bertone, C (CERN) ; Blanchard, S (CERN) ; Bozzini, D (CERN) ; Coulot, E (CERN) ; Coupat, C (CERN) et al.
The HL-LHC IT STRING, an integrated test stand for the major components of the HL-LHC Inner Triplet (IT) zone, is in its construction phase in a surface building at CERN. The main motivation is to study and validate the collective behavior of the different systems: magnets, circuit protection, cryogenics for magnets and superconducting link, magnet powering, vacuum, alignment, and interconnections between magnets and superconducting link. Construction and Test of the Enhanced Racetrack Model Coil, First CERN R&D; Magnet for the FCC / Perez, J C (CERN) ; Bajko, M (CERN) ; Bourcey, N (CERN) ; Bordini, B (CERN) ; Bottura, L (CERN) ; Troitiño, S Ferradás (CERN) ; Gautheron, E (CERN) ; Guinchard, M (CERN) ; Bermudez, S Izquierdo (CERN) ; Mangearotti, F (CERN) et al.
Racetrack model coils (RMC) have been built at CERN during the past decade, as an R&D; tool to qualify conductors and technologies developed for high field superconducting accelerator magnets (Perez et al. , 2016). RMC, assembled in a dipole magnet configuration, proved to be an efficient instrument reducing cost and feed-back time while developing new magnets. [...]

The Characterization of Optical Fibers for Distributed Cryogenic Temperature Monitoring / Marcon, Leonardo (CERN ; U. Padua (main)) ; Chiuchiolo, Antonella (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Castaldo, Bernardo (CERN) ; Bajas, Hugues (CERN) ; Galtarossa, Andrea (U. Padua (main)) ; Bajko, Marta (CERN) ; Palmieri, Luca (U. Padua (main))
Thanks to their characteristics, optical fiber sensors are an ideal solution for sensing applications at cryogenic temperatures, such as the monitoring of superconducting devices. Their applicability at such temperatures, however, is not immediate as optical fibers exhibit a non-linear thermal response which becomes rapidly negligible below 50 K. [...]

The Inner Triplet String Facility for HL-LHC: Design and Planning / Bajko, Marta (CERN) ; Bertolasi, Stefano (CERN) ; Bertone, Caterina (CERN) ; Blanchard, Sebastien (CERN) ; Bozzini, Davide (CERN) ; Brüning, Oliver (CERN) ; Cruikshank, Paul (CERN) ; De Luca, Davide (CERN) ; Dos Santos, Nuno (CERN) ; Dragoni, Francesco (CERN) et al.
In the framework of the HL-LHC project, full-scale integration and operational tests of the superconducting magnet chain, from the inner triplet quadrupoles up to the first separation/recombination dipole, are planned in conditions as similar as possible to the final set-up in the LHC tunnel. The IT String includes all of the required systems for operation at nominal conditions, such as vacuum, cryogenics, warm and cold powering equipment, and protection systems. [...]

Power Test of the First Two HL-LHC Insertion Quadrupole Magnets Built at CERN / Mangiarotti, F J (CERN) ; Willering, G (CERN) ; Fiscarelli, L (CERN) ; Bajko, M (CERN) ; Bottura, L (CERN) ; Desbiolles, V (CERN) ; Devred, A (CERN) ; Ferradas Troitino, J (CERN) ; Izquierdo Bermudez, S (CERN) ; Keijzer, R (CERN ; Twente U., Enschede) et al.
The High-Luminosity project (HL-LHC) of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), requires low β* quadrupole magnets in Nb$_3$Sn technology that will be installed on each side of the ATLAS and CMS experiments. After a successful shortmodel magnet manufacture and test campaign, the project has advanced with the production, assembly, and test of full-size 7.15- m-long magnets. [...]
