Charge breeders: Development of diagnostic tools to probe the underlying physics / Maunoury, L (GANIL) ; Bidault, N (CERN) ; Angot, J (LPSC, Grenoble) ; Galata, A (INFN, Legnaro) ; Vondrasek, R (Argonne, PHY) ; Wenander, F (CERN)
Charge breeders were developed more than 20 years ago in the context of radioactive ion beam (RIB) production. The main goal is to boost the charge state of a singly charged RIB to a higher value matching the A/Q of a post-accelerator. [...]

The RF H$^−$ ion source project at RAL / Tarvainen, Olli (Rutherford) ; Lawrie, Scott (Rutherford) ; Faircloth, Dan (Rutherford) ; Abel, Robert (Rutherford) ; Sarmento, Tiago Morais (Rutherford) ; Macgregor, John (Rutherford) ; Whitehead, Mark (Rutherford) ; Wood, Trevor (Rutherford) ; Lettry, Jacques (CERN) ; Noll, Daniel (CERN) et al.
A project to design and construct an RF-driven long-lifetime volume production ion source producing 30 mA of H− with 50 Hz repetition rate and 1.5% duty factor at 35 keV energy for the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source has been started at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. The development of the new ion source aims at replacing the caesiated Penning-type surface plasma ion source that has served the ISIS facility since 1980s. [...]

New exotic beams from the SPIRAL 1 upgrade / Delahaye, P. (GANIL) ; Dubois, M. (GANIL) ; Maunoury, L. (GANIL) ; Annaluru, A. (GANIL) ; Angot, J. (LPSC, Grenoble) ; Bajeat, O. (GANIL) ; Blank, B. (CENBG, Gradignan) ; Cam, J.C. (Caen U.) ; Chauveau, P. (GANIL ; CSNSM, Orsay) ; Frigot, R. (GANIL) et al.
Since 2001, the SPIRAL 1 facility has been one of the pioneering facilities in ISOL techniques for reaccelerating radioactive ion beams: the fragmentation of the heavy ion beams of GANIL on graphite targets and subsequent ionization in the Nanogan ECR ion source has permitted to deliver beams of gaseous elements (He, N, O, F, Ne, Ar, Kr) to numerous experiments. Thanks to the CIME cyclotron, energies up to 20 AMeV could be obtained. [...]

Optimizing charge breeding techniques for ISOL facilities in Europe: Conclusions from the EMILIE project / Delahaye, P (GANIL) ; Galatà, A (INFN, Legnaro) ; Angot, J (LPSC, Grenoble) ; Cam, J F (Caen U.) ; Traykov, E (Caen U.) ; Ban, G (Caen U.) ; Celona, L (INFN, LNS) ; Choinski, J (Warsaw U., Heavy Ion Lab) ; Gmaj, P (Warsaw U., Heavy Ion Lab) ; Jardin, P (GANIL) et al.
The present paper summarizes the results obtained from the past few years in the framework of the Enhanced Multi-Ionization of short-Lived Isotopes for Eurisol (EMILIE) project. The EMILIE project aims at improving the charge breeding techniques with both Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Sources (ECRIS) and Electron Beam Ion Sources (EBISs) for European Radioactive Ion Beam (RIB) facilities.
