QCD challenges from pp to AA collisions: 4th edition / Altmann, Javira (Monash U.) ; Andres, Carlota (Ecole Polytechnique, CPHT) ; Andronic, Anton (Munster U., ITP) ; Antinori, Federico (INFN, Padua) ; Antonioli, Pietro (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) ; Beraudo, Andrea (INFN, Turin) ; Berti, Eugenio (INFN, Florence) ; Bianchi, Livio (INFN, Turin ; Turin U.) ; Boettcher, Thomas (Cincinnati U.) ; Capriotti, Lorenzo (Ferrara U.) et al.
This paper is a write-up of the ideas that were presented, developed and discussed at the fourth International Workshop on QCD Challenges from pp to AA, which took place in February 2023 in Padua, Italy. The goal of the workshop was to focus on some of the open questions in the field of high-energy heavy-ion physics and to stimulate the formulation of concrete suggestions for making progresses on both the experimental and theoretical sides. Full solution of the medium-induced radiation spectrum / Andres, Carlota (speaker) (Jefferson Lab)
New measurements of jet quenching observables at RHIC and at the LHC, such as jet substructure observables, demand an increased precision in the theory calculations describing medium-induced radiation of gluons. Closed expressions for the gluon spectrum including a full resummation of multiple scatterings have been known for the past 20 years, but have only been evaluated in specific limits either taking a few terms in an opacity expansion or by employing a gaussian approximation for the interaction potential — which misses important physical effects. Jet quenching as a probe of the initial stages in heavy-ion collisions / Andres, Carlota (Jefferson Lab) ; Armesto, Néstor (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Niemi, Harri (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki U.) ; Paatelainen, Risto (Helsinki U. ; CERN) ; Salgado, Carlos A. (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE)
Jet quenching provides a very flexible variety of observables which are sensitive to different energy- and time-scales of the strongly interacting matter created in heavy-ion collisions. Exploiting this versatility would make jet quenching an excellent chronometer of the yoctosecond structure of the evolution process. [...]

Constraining energy loss from high-$p_{\rm T}$ azimuthal asymmetries / Andres, Carlota (Jefferson Lab) ; Armesto, Néstor (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Niemi, Harri (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) ; Paatelainen, Risto (Helsinki Inst. of Phys. ; CERN) ; Salgado, Carlos A. (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE)
The nuclear modification factor $R_{\rm AA}$ has been satisfactorily described by various jet quenching models. Nonetheless, all these formalisms, until very recently, underpredicted the high-$p_{\rm T}$ (> 10 GeV) elliptic flow $v_2$. [...]
