Pair Spectrometer for FACET-II
/ Naranjo, Brian (UCLA) ; Andonian, Gerard (UCLA) ; Cavanagh, Niall (Queen's U., Belfast) ; Di Piazza, Antonino (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Fukasawa, Atsushi (UCLA) ; Gerstmayr, Elias (SLAC) ; Holtzapple, Robert (Cal. Poly.) ; Keitel, Christoph (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Majernik, Nathan (UCLA) ; Meuren, Sebastian (SLAC) et al.
We present the design of a pair spectrometer for use at FACET-II, where there is a need for spectroscopy of photons having energies up to 10 GeV. Incoming gammas are converted to high-energy positron-electron pairs, which are then subsequently analyzed in a dipole magnet. [...]

PetaVolts per meter Plasmonics: Snowmass21 White Paper
/ Sahai, Aakash A. (Denver U.) ; Golkowski, Mark (Denver U.) ; Gedney, Stephen (Denver U.) ; Katsouleas, Thomas (Connecticut U.) ; Andonian, Gerard (UCLA) ; White, Glen (SLAC) ; Stohr, Joachim (SLAC) ; Muggli, Patric (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Filipetto, Daniele (LBL, Berkeley) ; Zimmermann, Frank (CERN) et al.
Plasmonic modes offer the potential to achieve PetaVolts per meter fields, that would transform the current paradigm in collider development in addition to non-collider searches in fundamental physics. [...]

First Measurements of Trojan Horse Injection in a Plasma Wakefield Accelerator
/ Hidding, Bernhard (Glasgow U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Adli, Erik (Oslo U. ; CERN) ; Andonian, Gerard (UCLA ; RadiaBeam Tech.) ; Beaton, Andrew (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Glasgow U.) ; Bruhwiler, David (RadiaSoft, Boulder) ; Cary, John (Tech-X, Boulder) ; Clarke, Christine (SLAC) ; Deng, Aihua (UCLA) ; Downer, Michael (Texas U.) ; Gessner, Spencer (CERN) et al.
Plasma accelerators support accelerating fields of 100's of GV/m over meter-scale distances and routinely produce femtosecond-scale, multi-kA electron bunches. The so called Trojan Horse underdense photocathode plasma wakefield acceleration scheme combines state-of-the-art accelerator technology with laser and plasma methods and paves the way to improve beam quality as regards emittance and energy spread by many orders of magnitude. Measuring the Self-modulation Instability of Electron and Positron Bunches in Plasmas
/ Muggli, Patric (Garching, Max Planck Inst. Plasmaphys.) ; Adli, Erik (Oslo U.) ; Allen, James (SLAC) ; Amorim, Ligia (Lisbon, IST) ; Andonian, Gerard (UCLA) ; Gessner, Spencer (SLAC) ; Green, Selina (SLAC) ; Hogan, Mark (SLAC) ; Joshi, Chan (UCLA) ; Litos, Michael (SLAC) et al.
The self-modulation instability (SMI) can be used to transform a long, charged particle bunch into a train of periodically spaced shorter bunches. The SMI occurs in a plasma when the plasma wake period is much shorter than the bunch length. [...]

VISA IB : Ultra-High Bandwidth, High Gain SASE FEL
/ Andonian, Gerard ; Barkley-Agustsson, Ronald ; Murokh, Alex ; Pellegrini, Claudio ; Reiche, Sven ; Rosenzweig, J B ; Travish, Gil
The results of a high energy-spread SASE FEL experiment, the intermediary experiment linking the VISA I and VISA II projects, are presented. A highly chirped beam (~1.7%) was transported without correction of longitudinal aberrations in the ATF dogleg, and injected into the VISA undulator. [...]

Recent Results from and Future Plans for the VISA II SASE FEL
/ Andonian, Gerard ; Agustsson, Ronald ; Babzien, Marcus ; Ben-Zvi, Ilan ; Boscolo, Ilario ; Cialdi, Simone ; Ferrario, Massimo ; Flacco, Alessandro Federico ; Frigola, Pedro ; Huang, Jung Y et al.
As the promise of X-ray Free Electron Lasers (FEL) comes close to realization, the creation and diagnosis of ultra-short pulses is of great relevance in the SASE FEL (Self-Amplified Spontaneous Emission) community. The VISA II (Visible to Infrared SASE Amplifier) experiment entails the use of a chirped electron beam to drive a high gain SASE FEL at the Accelerator Test Facility (ATF) in Brookhaven National Labs (BNL). Experimental Characterizations of 4-D Transverse Phase-Space of a Compressed Beam
/ Zhou, Feng ; Agustsson, Ronald ; Andonian, Gerard ; Ben-Zvi, Ilan ; Cline, David B ; Murokh, Alex ; Rosenzweig, James E ; Yakimenko, Vitaly
Coherent synchrotron radiation can significantly distort beam phase spaces in longitudinal direction and bending plane through a bunch compressor. A tomography technique is used to reconstruct transverse phase space of electron beam. [...]
