The recently installed internal gas target at LHCb presents exceptional opportunities for an extensive physics program for heavy-ion, hadron, spin, and astroparticle physics. A storage cell placed in the LHC primary vacuum, an advanced Gas Feed System, the availability of multi-TeV proton and ion beams and the recent upgrade of the LHCb detector make this project unique worldwide. LHCspin: a polarized internal target for the LHC
/ Lenisa, Paolo (Ferrara U. ; INFN, Ferrara) ; Steffens, Erhard (Erlangen - Nuremberg U.) ; Carassiti, Vito (INFN, Ferrara ; Ferrara U.) ; Ciullo, Giuseppe (Ferrara U. ; INFN, Ferrara) ; Di Nezza, Pasquale (Frascati) ; Pappalardo, Luciano (Ferrara U. ; INFN, Ferrara) ; Vasilyev, Alexander A (PNPI, CSTD)
The LHCspin project aims to bring both unpolarized and polarized physics at the LHC through the installation of a gaseous fixed target at the upstream end of the LHCb detector. The forward geometry of the LHCb spectrometer (2 < eta < 5) is perfectly suited for the reconstruction of particles produced in fixed-target collisions. [...]

The role of the NA62 RICH in the $BR(K^+ \to \pi^+ \nu \bar\nu)$ measurement
/ Volpe, R (Florence U. ; INFN, Florence ; Louvain U., CP3) ; Anzivino, G (Perugia U. ; INFN, Perugia) ; Aisa, D (Perugia U. ; INFN, Perugia) ; Barbanera, M (INFN, Perugia) ; Bizzarri, M (Perugia U. ; INFN, Perugia) ; Bizzeti, A (Florence U. ; INFN, Florence ; Modena U.) ; Brizioli, F (Perugia U. ; INFN, Perugia) ; Bucci, F (INFN, Florence) ; Campeggi, C (Perugia U. ; INFN, Perugia) ; Carassiti, V (INFN, Ferrara) et al.
The NA62 experiment aims to measure the $BR$($K^+$ $\rightarrow$ $\pi^+$ $v$ $\overline{v}$) with a 10% precision. One of the main backgrounds comes from the decay $K^+$ $\rightarrow$ $\mu^+$ $v$ , therefore a highly powerful pion/muon separation is needed. [...]

The Ring Imaging Cherenkov detector of the NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS is a key element of particle identification in the NA62 experimental strategy. The detector fulfills different conditions: to distinguish pions from muons with a muon rejection factor of O(10$^2$) in the NA62 momentum range of operation, between 15 and 35 GeV/c; to measure particle arrival time in the decay region with a precision better than 100 ps; to provide fast signals and reference time to the NA62 trigger system. NA62 is the last generation kaon experiment at CERN SPS aiming to study the decay K$^+$ $\rightarrow\pi^+ \nu \bar{\nu }$. The goal of the experiment is to measure the decay branching ratio, $O$ (10$^{-10}$) , with 10% precision collecting about 100 K$^+$ $\rightarrow\pi^+ \nu \bar{\nu }$ events in three years of data taking and assuming a 10% signal acceptance. A new detector exploiting the technology of Gas Electron Multipliers is under construction to replace the innermost drift chamber of BESIII experiment, since its efficiency is compromised owing the high luminosity of Beijing Electron Positron Collider. The new inner tracker with a cylindrical shape will deploy several new features. [...]
