Low-lying electric dipole $γ$-continuum for the unstable $^{62,64}$Fe nuclei: Strength evolution with neutron number / Avigo, R (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.) ; Wieland, O (INFN, Milan) ; Bracco, A (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.) ; Camera, F (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.) ; Ameil, F (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Arici, T (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Ataç, A (Royal Inst. Tech., Stockholm) ; Barrientos, D (CERN) ; Bazzacco, D (INFN, Padua) ; Bednarczyk, P (Cracow, INP) et al.
The γ -ray emission from the nuclei $^{62,64}$Fe following Coulomb excitation at bombarding energy of 400-440 AMeV was measured with special focus on E 1 transitions in the energy region 4-8 MeV. The unstable neutron-rich nuclei $^{62,64}$Fe were produced at the FAIR-GSI laboratories and selected with the FRS spectrometer. [...]

Manifestation of the Berry phase in the atomic nucleus $^{213}$Pb / Valiente-Dobón, J.J. (INFN, Legnaro) ; Gottardo, A. (INFN, Legnaro) ; Benzoni, G. (INFN, Milan) ; Gadea, A. (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Lunardi, S. (Padua U. ; INFN, Padua) ; Algora, A. (Valencia U., IFIC) ; de Angelis, G. (INFN, Legnaro) ; Bazzacco, D. (INFN, Padua) ; Benlliure, J. (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Boutachkov, P. (Darmstadt, GSI) et al.
The neutron-rich $^{213}$Pb isotope was produced in the fragmentation of a primary 1 GeV $A$ $^{238}$U beam, separated in FRS in mass and atomic number, and then implanted for isomer decay $\gamma$-ray spectroscopy with the RISING setup at GSI. A newly observed isomer and its measured decay properties indicate that states in $^{213}$Pb are characterized by the seniority quantum number that counts the nucleons not in pairs coupled to angular momentum $J=0$. Testing ab initio nuclear structure in neutron-rich nuclei: lifetime measurements of second 2$^+$ states in $^{16}$C and $^{20}$O / Ciemala, M. (Cracow, INP) ; Ziliani, S. (Milan U. ; INFN, Milan) ; Crespi, F.C.L. (Milan U. ; INFN, Milan) ; Leoni, S. (Milan U. ; INFN, Milan) ; Fornal, B. (Cracow, INP) ; Maj, A. (Cracow, INP) ; Bednarczyk, P. (Cracow, INP) ; Benzoni, G. (INFN, Milan) ; Bracco, A. (Milan U. ; INFN, Milan) ; Boiano, C. (INFN, Milan) et al.
To test the predictive power of ab initio nuclear structure theory, the lifetime of the second 2+ state in neutron-rich 20O, tau(2+_2 ) = 150(+80-30) fs, and an estimate for the lifetime of the second 2+ state in 16C have been obtained, for the first time. The results were achieved via a novel Monte Carlo technique that allowed us to measure nuclear state lifetimes in the tens-to-hundreds femtoseconds range, by analyzing the Doppler-shifted gamma-transition line shapes of products of low-energy transfer and deep-inelastic processes in the reaction 18O (7.0 MeV/u) + 181Ta. New spectroscopic information on $^{211,213}\mathrm{Tl}$: A changing structure beyond the $N=126$ shell closure / Gottardo, A (INFN, Legnaro ; Padua U.) ; Valiente-Dobón, J J (INFN, Legnaro) ; Benzoni, G (INFN, Milan) ; Morales, A I (INFN, Milan) ; Gadea, A (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Lunardi, S (Padua U. ; INFN, Padua) ; Boutachkov, P (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Bruce, A M (Brighton U.) ; Górska, M (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Grebosz, J (Cracow, INP) et al.
The neutron-rich isotopes $^{211,213}\mathrm{Tl}$, beyond the $N=126$ shell closure, have been studied for the first time in isomer $\gamma$-ray decay, exploiting the fragmentation of a primary uranium beam at the Fragment Separator-Rare Isotopes Investigation at GSI setup. The observed isomeric states in $^{211,213}\mathrm{Tl}$ show a deviation from the seniority-like scheme of $^{209}\mathrm{Tl}$. [...]

The need of a fs-scale pulsed, high repetition rate, X-ray source for time-resolved fine analysis of matter (spectroscopy and photon scattering) in the linear response regime is addressed by the conceptual design of a facility called MariX (Multi-disciplinary Advanced Research Infrastructure for the generation and application of X-rays) outperforming current X-ray sources for the declared scope. MariX is based on the original design of a two-pass two-way superconducting linear electron accelerator, equipped with an arc compressor, to be operated in CW mode (1 MHz). [...]

Evolution of deformation in neutron-rich Ba isotopes up to $A=150$ / Lică, R (CERN ; Bucharest, IFIN-HH) ; Benzoni, G (INFN, Milan) ; Rodríguez, T R (Madrid, Autonoma U.) ; Borge, M J G (CERN ; CSIC, Madrid) ; Fraile, L M (UCM, Somosaguas) ; Mach, H (NCBJ, Warsaw) ; Morales, A I (INFN, Milan ; Milan U. ; Valencia U., IFIC) ; Madurga, M (CERN) ; Sotty, C O (Leuven U.) ; Vedia, V (UCM, Somosaguas) et al. /IDS
The occurrence of octupolar shapes in the Ba isotopic chain was recently established experimentally up to $N=90$. To further extend the systematics, the evolution of shapes in the most neutron-rich members of the $Z=56$ isotopic chain accessible at present, $^{148,150}$Ba, has been studied via $\beta$ decay at the ISOLDE Decay Station. $β$ decay studies of n-rich Cs isotopes with the ISOLDE Decay Station / Lică, R (CERN ; Bucharest, IFIN-HH) ; Benzoni, G (INFN, Milan) ; Morales, A I (INFN, Milan) ; Borge, M J G (CERN ; Madrid, Inst. Neutron-rich Ba isotopes are expected to exhibit octupolar correlations, reaching their maximum in isotopes around mass A = 146. The odd-A neutron-rich members of this isotopic chain show typical patterns related to non-axially symmetric shapes, which are however less marked compared to even-A ones, pointing to a major contribution from vibrations.
