CISCE full form is Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations which is a national-level private board of Education in India, which was established in the year 1958 with an aim to serve the nation’s children by providing high-quality education, stimulating learning prospects with an assurance of excellence. The CISCE was launched to replace the Cambridge school certification examination.
The CISCE Board provides a comprehensive, structured syllabus and aims to give practical knowledge and build analytical skills in students. The CISCE Board syllabus is specially designed according to the essential requirements of working professionals in order to improve their skills and capability according to the current job-oriented demands.

CISCE Board Exam
Every year the CISCE Board of School education system conducts two main examinations for Class 10 and Class 12, namely:
The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE – Class 10) |
The Indian School Certificate (ISC – Class 11 and 12) |
The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)
The ICSE examination is a course of general education in the medium of English, as per the New Education Policy 1986 recommendation. However, private candidates are not permitted to appear for this examination. The ICSE focuses on a student’s overall growth, so it provides a balanced curriculum to all its learners.
The Indian School Certificate (ISC)
Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination is a national-level Board of School Education in India which conducts the Indian School Certificate for Class 12. ISC curriculum is designed to improve oral and writing skills, along with in-depth learning of various concepts, which focuses on the overall development of students.
Certificate of Vocational Education (Year 12)
The Certificate of Vocational Education Examination (CVE – 12) has been created as an examination in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) through the Joint Council of Vocational Education (JCVE) established under the National Policy of Education 1986. This examination can be taken by candidates after a two-year course of studies beyond the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (Year 10) examination or its equivalent through the medium of English.
CISCE Board Exam Pattern
ICSE: Class 10 exams are divided into three groups. Where Group 1 has a list of compulsory subjects that class 10 students should do. In Group 2, students had a choice between any of the 2 subjects offered, and in Group 3, students had a choice of one subject. Now, as per the exam pattern for class 10, for both Group 1 and 2 subjects, the marks percentage distribution is 80% from external and 20% from internal exams. Whereas, for Group 3 subjects, the mark percentage distribution is 50% each from external and internal exams.
For ICSE, students have to get 33%, and for ISC students, the cut-off is 35%.
From 2021, new subjects will be included in the curriculum.
ICSE: Group I History, Civics, and Geography (Thailand) will be offered to aspirants of Thai nationality compulsorily, while others can also opt for the same. The students will have a choice to study either history civics and geography or history civics and geography (Thailand).
ICSE Exam Pattern
The exam pattern of ICSE Class 10 for all the compulsory subjects is provided below. The exam pattern will provide an overview of the question paper design, the weightage of marks for each section and the number of questions in each section. By knowing the exam pattern, students get to know the important topics which need to be focused more. So, students are advised to go through the exam pattern before they start preparing for the ICSE Class 10 Board exam.
English I Exam Pattern (2 hrs) |
There will be 4 broad questions. A composition of 450 to 500 words, second is a letter, third is an unseen passage and related questions, and fourth would be a question to test your grammar. In the essay and letter section, you are given a choice. Choose only those topics which you know about. |

For Geography (2 hrs) |

For EVS (2 hrs) |
First part has 4 compulsory questions, and the second part has 5 long answer-type questions, out of which any 4 are to be solved. |
ISC: Hospitality management and legal studies will be added to the syllabus.
Also, with the change in syllabus, the question paper of Classes 10 and 9 will align the curriculum of Classes 6 and 8.
CVE: The CVE course is intended to prepare candidates for specific vocations. Private candidates are not permitted to appear for these examinations.
CISCE Board Compartmental Exam
The CISCE Board will conduct a compartmental examination for both ICSE and ISC. All the candidates will be eligible to appear for one compartmental exam a year only. Further, the compartmental examination will be held in July, and the result for the same will be announced in August.
The ICSE and ISC compartmental exams are expected to conduct in the month of July, and results are expected to be announced by the end of August.
CISCE Board Date Sheet
Students of Class 10 and Class 12 studying under the CISCE Board would be eagerly looking for the CISCE board date sheet if they have not already done so, as it gives a detailed timetable and instructions about the upcoming board exams. Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations has published the ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12 exam date sheets for the academic year 2019-20. The ICSE examination started on 22nd February 2020, and the ISC examination on 3rd February 2020. Exams were conducted only for a few subjects, and the remaining were cancelled by the council due to the spread of the novel Corona Virus.

CISCE Board Syllabus
CISCE Board Syllabus is inherent with extensive information and details about the subject, course and other details. CISCE Board Result
The CISCE Board declares the result for Class 10 and 12 students. The ICSE result for class 10th and ISC result for class 12th was announced on July 10, 2020, at 3 PM. Students can check their results by visiting the official website of the board, i.e. cisce.org. In the 2018-19 academic session, 86, 713 students registered for the ISC exam and 96.52% qualified for higher education, up by 0.31% from the 2017-18 academic year. In ICSE, 98.54 % of students qualified for higher education.
