This Volkswagen Golf & Rabbit got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1982 Volkswagen Golf GTI is a European-market example that underwent a partial repaint and a rebuild of its 1.6-liter inline-four while in Italy, and it was imported to the US in 2023 for use as a demonstrator vehicle by wheel maker RML. Finished in Alpine White over black and red cloth upholstery, the car is equipped with a five-speed manual transaxle, KW coilovers, 15″ RML Snowflake wheels, front disc brakes, and an IMASAF exhaust system in addition to a sunroof, a rear window wiper, a heater, and a cassette stereo. Acquired by the selling dealer in May 2024, this Golf GTI shows 183k kilometers (~114k miles) and is now offered in Illinois with a clean Carfax report and a clean Maryland title listing the model year as 1981.
