1972 Fiat 124 Sport Spider

This 1972 Fiat 124 Sport Spider underwent refurbishment work under previous ownership that included repainting the body in green, retrimming the interior in black vinyl, overhauling the brakes and suspension, and rebuilding the 1.6-liter inline-four. The car features a five-speed manual transmission, a black vinyl soft top, four-wheel disc brakes, KYB shocks, and 13″ steel wheels with polished hubcaps as well as an Abarth exhaust system and European-style bumpers. Additional equipment includes a Weber 32/36 carburetor, electronic ignition, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and an aftermarket stereo with a remote. Acquired by the seller in 2023, this 124 Sport Spider is offered with a reproduction owner’s manual, a supplemental instruction booklet, factory sales literature, a factory tool kit and jack, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.

The seller states that the car was specified in Bottle Green from the factory, previously refinished in red under prior ownership, and then was disassembled and repainted in the same factory shade of Bottle Green during the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior features include a Robbins black vinyl soft top, a driver-side mirror, and European-style bumpers without overriders. Replacement headlights, turn signal lenses, and taillights are said to have been installed during the project, at which time the antenna socket was shaved and a hidden antenna was added. The removed side markers and the factory top boot are included in the sale.

The 13″ steel wheels feature polished hubcaps and are mounted with 165/80 Nankang tires. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with a sway bar and coil springs as well as worm-and-roller gear steering. Stopping power is provided by discs at all four corners. The seller states that work during the refurbishment included rebuilding the brake calipers, installing KYB shocks, and replacing the tires, bushings, ball joints, brake hoses, brake pads, and brake rotors.

The cabin was fitted with replacement factory-style upholstery during the refurbishment, and it houses front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black vinyl. The dash was overhauled, the clock was deleted, the central dash panel was changed out to a later-model version with square indicators, and electrical upgrades with replacement relays were performed during the project, according to the seller. Replacement trunk floorboards and replacement carpeting that was hand-sewn by a prior owner were also installed, along with a set of hand-sewn front sisal floor mats. Interior features include a Bluetooth-capable vintage-look stereo, an aftermarket wooden shift knob, and lap belts. The factory tool kit and jack are secured in the trunk and a set of removed and reupholstered factory seat headrests are included in the sale. There is a crack in the dashboard near one of the defroster vents.

The two-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Veglia Borletti instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. The gauges are said to have been overhauled during the refurbishment.
